Jim,
Tried it just now, 7:00 AM (sky still dark) and the 580 khz signal is no longer audible. The only signal is WCCW at 1310 khz and it takes up 1/2 of the band spread. I hear no signals at all

But if I turn up the gain the interfering stations get louder. They fill the whole band and run into each other. Do I have an error somewhere? I can see the towers of the interfering stations and the

GM Dave...I think you may have misunderstood my tuning/gain method...Let me rephrase...
In general with the Murania, as you go up in frequency, you will need more gain...That's just a function of the

I have distant stations at night that sound like locals...It's not about how far away they are but how strong...Weaker signals will need more gain but you'll get the feel for it quickly...

I did the mods and the audio is much better, but what was the original problem with the radio if some had good results building it as instructed? I would still like the LED to work as intended. I

Hi Dave...My two resistor mods will absolutely improve the performance of the Murania...The Changes to L1 and C9 are NOT necessary unless you're fussy like me about the frequency coverage...

Observation
I am getting great Battery life out of my Murania. Really happy. I listen two hours between 0430 and 1630 every day and a hour or so during the day. I am retired so I can do this.
