Re: Need help with software for Modular 40 meter CW transceiver from Aug 2016 QST
There is a groups.io group for this project (SoftwareControlledHamRadio). However, newer projects by the author have taken over the content.
I wrote my own firmware for the VFO and made it available

The article was actually in the March 2016 QST. It was the 49er with the DDS VFO.
The firmware can be found in the zipped folder posted on "QST in Depth" for that month:

Re: Middle or End
I'll echo Don's comment about the end-fed antennas.
I have the PAR 40M/30M end-fed and very happy with it. It has a single trap about 45 feet out from the feedpoint, and an overall length of 54 feet.

You might try the ARRL website, for supplemental files from that QST article. I believe they had those supplements, even then. Or, look at the original QST article, print or online. Perhaps it is

Re: Middle or End
Do you have any trees?
I have been hanging vertical wires from them,
even attached right to the trunk for years.
Random length as long as possible and use
a Icom remote tuner. Invisible to HOA

Re: Middle or End
Advantage of end fed half wave is usefulness on even harmonics.
Same with “center fed”.

Did you try the author, was this w8tee? Was this the rig that used the 49er board from far east? I assume you checked qst archives.

Doc
Either will radiate about the same, so it may came down to which is easier to install. The feedpoint of either antenna should be clear of nearby conductive objects of appreciable size.

Doc,
I've grown to really like end fed dipoles. They are a bit expensive, but they seem to always work well.

Middle or End
I am going to need HOA antennas for at least about 3 to 4 mo. I have 20 and 40 dipoles on hand that I can put in my attic under my standard composition shingles roof...or I could put up a backpacker
