IARU (ARRL) CONTEST ON TODAY.....GOOD CW PRATICE on callsigns if nothing else

Phil <w0xiphil@...>

Hey All,

Goggle RADIO CONTEST CALENDAR,

Therein you’ll find most of the contests for the week. I’m working one now – just took a tea break – and it’s fun but also good CW keyboard call sign copy practice.

If you happen to subscribe to N3FJP’s suite of programs (generic AC log most popular) you likely have the IARU contest program too already.

THIS CONTEST PROGRAM IS NICE FOR CW KEYBOARD PRACTICE IN THAT ALL YOU LOG IS CALL, 5NN and itu ZONE........07  for most of us in 0-land.

Take a look. I was on 20 meters before lunch...........may now switch to 40..............

David,

If you have both the SS-40Rx and SS-40Tx board, a MagicBox is not needed to connect them together. All of the Antenna and T/R switching is taken care of by the combo.

The 1934 Vibroplex Original has been spoken for.

SS40TX sold

Don Jackson

The SS40TX kit is sold pending funds and 3 more buyers in line.

Thanks everyone!

I'll eventually be cleaning house with more various kits I never got "a round 2" over the years. It is amazing what a pack rat like me accumulates over 63 years of ham radio plus even a few before that.

AES is closing it's doors..........announced via ARRL email today

Phil <w0xiphil@...>

Hey All,

The AES amateur radio chain is closing its doors this week. The company was founded in 1959 or so by Terry, he is since SK.

I attended many hamfests at AES Millwaukee over the years and even got a ride in Terry’s private aircraft back in the 1980s.
He had four FM rigs equiped with trailing antennas and we’d make FM contacts with walkies on the ground; lots of fun.

I have the ss40 rec. built and working  not in a enclosure    jim kc0dd  say $40 I ship   good on qrz

Antique Vibroplex Original bug for sale

Jim Sheldon

I have for sale a 1934 vintage Vibroplex Original that saw lots of
service in a telegraph office somewhere. The serial number is 107,5xx
which through look-up on the Vibroplex.com website dates it to 1934.
Considering it's age it's in remarkably good condition. It has chipping
in the original "Japanned" black lacquer base and the pinstriping is
almost completely gone but can still be seen if the light is right.
It's easy to tell that this was a working telegrapher's key by the
groove worn in the key's paddle and knob. I've never seen one like this
before.

I'm asking $130.00 shipped anywhere in the continental U.S. only via
USPS Priority Flat Rate mail. I've had this bug on the air and it
really sings.

Preferred payment method would be PayPal, but I'll take USPS money
orders as well.

Please reply off the reflector if you're interested and I can send
pictures via email. I do not know how to post pix on the reflector.

For sale: SS-40TX Kit

Don Jackson

It appears I'll never get to this kit, so I'm selling it with the hope someone else may build and benefit from it.

This is the K8IQY-designed SS-40TX transmitter which is now sold out and discontinued from the 4SQRP kit stable, but sold earlier this year for $50 plus shipping. You can still read about it and get all the info on it from the 4sqrp.com web pages. If you have the companion SS-40 receiver and not the transmitter, here's your possible last chance to get the companion transmitter.

Description: This well designed transmitter is a companion to K8IQY's highly regarded SS-40 receiver. It produces up to 9 watts (can be set to 5W) and uses a hefty, cool running MOSFET as a final. All parts are through hole lead parts.

This is an unbuilt kit, only the outer bubble mailing envelope has been opened for inspection, all parts are still in their respective original plastic bags.

I am asking $35.00 and $2.00 postage, or $37 total. PayPal accepted as well as a USPS postal money order. Email me OFF LIST and please give a phone number where I may reach you to finalize the transaction. My email is donj at ae5k dot us

Second Sunday Sprint

John Lonigro

Don't forget! This coming Sunday, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm CDT, is the July Second Sunday Sprint. Go to QRPContest.com/4sqrp for complete rules. That's also where you will enter your results. Please do that by Tuesday evening, July 12th, at the latest. I will take a look at the results Wednesday and record them for my spreadsheet. I will also send a certificate to the person with the highest score this month. It could be YOU!!!! (but only if you participate).

Just for curiosity, if you participate for 15 minutes or more, please enter your score, even if it is ZERO (0). I'd like to get a feel for how many people are trying each month, even if they are only listening. I'll do this for 6 months (July - December) and decide whether I want to continue running this contest or throw in the towel and let it fall by the wayside (or let someone else pick it up).

John AA0VE
4SQRP Contest Coordinator

I think that they make reasonable hardware. For more info on scopes, go to eevblog.com forums and do a search on GDS-2204E. Lots, and lots, of discussion on test gear and oscilloscopes in particular by people who use them. Plenty of opinion available.

Lets not forget Tommy - WD5AGO, a college professor in Tulsa, OK who has world records via moon bounce!

Tommy, has been a member of 4SQRP nearly since our inception. He also designed the 17 meter transceiver that is on our Group web site. He is a super resource if you are serious about doing moon-bounce.

Receiver kits back in stock

Walter - K5EST

ZZRX-40 kits are back in stock, orders are being accepted, and shipping has resumed. Thank you for your patience.

Yes, this is the red enclosured receiver that was featured on the front cover of July QST.

The kit also includes AAØZZ's excellent silk screened and drilled enclosure design. Refer to the photo page for details.

There are NO SMT parts to install, only through hole parts are used, making this an easy kit to build. After all the parts are installed it is complete and ready to try out.

No alignment is required and it may be put on the air immediately after the last part is installed.

Thank you for your support of the 4SQRP kits which allows us to present OzarkCon, the premier QRP Conference in the Mid-West in April each year. April 7-8, 2017 in Branson, MO!
