Very good advice Chas NK8O. Don’t open anything even if you know the person. eMali is a total mess right now. I spend most of my computer time messing with eMail rather than enjoying the iNet. It isn’t unusual for me to open my eMail program to find +/- 100 emails. I thought it would let up after the election but I think it might have even gotten worse??? Bart - W

Second Sunday Sprint coming up
John Lonigro
This is NOT SPAM email, like we've been getting lately. This is the real deal! The Second Sunday Sprint is this coming Sunday, December 11th, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Go to qrpcontest.com for details.
Note: this is the final Second Sunday Sprint of the year. After the contest, besides the regular monthly winner, there will be an overall winner for the period November, 2015 to December, 2016. We can probably guess who that person will be, but you never know (at least until I tally the results about a week from now). For the last time, I'm asking anyone who turns on his radio and makes an effort to participate in the contest for at least 15 minutes to make his entry on the website, just so I can gauge how much activity the sprint generates. While the number of participants seems to hover around 10, I believe that's enough activity to continue running the contest. However, more participants is always better. Finally, I'm being held hostage in Somalia (or is it Nigeria? I forget...). Anyway, I have an incredibly rich uncle who will reward you handsomely if you send lots of money to me to effect my release. I will accept Paypal (hi). 72 and I hope to hear all of you in the contest next Sunday (wouldn't that be amazing?), John, AA0VE 4SQRP Contest Coordinator

That particular address should not be able send an email to the 4SQRP list again. However, if whatever miscreant is doing it has your email address it is still possible for you to get mail from that addressed.

I don't know the inner workings of Yahoo email. I do know from managing this and other mailing lists over the years that it seems like yahoo.com and arrl.org addresses get into the bad guys hands more so than others. It's the world we live in. I saw an article a while back where the manager of one Internet service estimated that as much as 80% of the email traffic that came through their system was spam / unsolicited. This is based on what their own mechanisms were able to filter out. Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Tim N9PUZ 4SQRP List Moderator

By default when someone joins our list their posts are moderated by default. Usually, the first time they send a legit looking on topic message they are un-moderated. In the past month there have been quite a few bogus looking messages that we have deleted. The one earlier today was from an address used by a member that's been with us for a few years. I had sent several messages warning the user that his address was compromised. I got no reply. Out of options, I deleted him from the mail list this afternoon. on such a project there must be some covertness - you know these kind of things saved the free world. I got this suspicion that quality control wishes to deliver all the parts required, and won't sell the incomplete kit to you. yes Regen's have their charm -- did the Kitchin high performance one, a homebrew rendition of the Ozark Patrol - and a WBR. yikes even this project from my youth calling my name (but OP has to work a lot better): http://www.netzener.net/images/swradio/swradio.pdf hang in there as the volunteers complete their mission, if we miss the first batch, if it sells that fast - I can imagine the treasury will see that there are more. trying to do more homebrew here and less kits - but the siren song of the regen prevails.
