HEY LARRY ! You are my first official QSO using the Bayou Jumper. We were doing good at the very first, then band fade took you out. Anyway, Thanks for my first Bayou Jumper QSO (on 7122 "KC"). "KC" is the more appropriate designation for the Paraset era ! --

Chas, You are down on my level....... I started out as a General Practitioner but many of the clan felt it didn't have enough prestige..... So they invented "Family Medicine" and I got certified in that along with "Correctional Medicine" (otherwise known as jail doc...... Just a good old GP serving a captive patient group. Had a lot of fun. Never really worked a day in my life, and made a lot of friends in the process. Ham Radio helped keep me sane and kept me away from bars and wild women. Dave K8WPE

FT-241A Crystal Holders
Evidently my last post that all the FT-241A crystal holders are sold did
not go out from Yahoo for some reason. I see it in the "conversations" on the 4S Group but never received it in the normal email broadcast from them. Evidently some of the group members didn's receive the "ALL GONE" message as I'm still getting people asking to order them but I do not have any more, sorry. Jim -- W0EB

FS: FT-241A Crystal Holders
Now that the Bayou Jumper Kit sales have reopened, some of you may need
holders in which to solder the small metal can crystals that come with the kit. Adapters are provided with the kit and these work perfectly well for the job. Some may decide that they want the Bayou Jumper to look more "retro" when in operation but don't have the FT-243 or FT-241 crystals either on the right frequencies or that can be modified as holders for the smaller metal can types. Earlier I offered some FT-241A type crystals that are on oddball frequencies, but work great as holders for just about any of the small metal can type crystals available on various 40 meter frequencies in the CW range other than the standard QRP frequencies. These are held together with 2 easily removable screws, the top comes off and you can remove the old internal parts. It's then easy to solder the small can crystals to the pins and put the cover back on. Now they look like old style crystals and it's easy to use just about any small stick-on label with the proper frequency either hand written or typed on the sticker. I still have a fair number of these available. Prices are $2.50 each in single lots, or better yet 2.00 each in quantities of 2 or more. Postage for up to 4 units is $2.62. If you buy more than 4, postage goes to $6.80 as I use a small flat rate box for shipping. I can get 10 of them in a single small flat rate box. I started out with 80 crystals and currently have half of them left. Anyone interested in purchasing one or more please contact me off list first just in case someone decides to grab what's left at $1.00 each plus actual postage for the lot. If someone wants the entire lot, first "I'll take 'em all" email (by date/time to be fair) gets right of first refusal. I suspect postage for the lot would be a little less than $14 for the 40 crystals & the metal case they came in. Off list please with inquiries to w0eb@cox.net Jim - W0EB
