Hello Wayne, Doug and the Group,

The 7.122 freq makes it difficult with the SSB so close for myself also.  When it is strong I'm not able to hear much else.  Freq change away from that would be great for me.
That is my two cents for what it is worth.

Hi Doug,
Yeah, we can move to 7.110 or 7.105, I too am getting a little tired of fighting the SSB crowd .
OK, assuming I can call the net next week I'll post a few reminders to the group on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.
Does anyone else have any input on this proposed frequency change?

Thursday Morning Net.

GM All,

There have been a few inquiries as the the status to the 7122 8AM Thursday morning 40M net.  Perhaps there is enough interest to re-open the net.  I was the previous NCS and, after many years, am not interested in doing it any longer.

Is anyone interest in being the new Thursday morning net NCS?

Hi Curt,

Sri, the Thursday morning net was discontinued for lack of checkins, and I burned out on it.  There may be more interest now, so pse feel free to call it if you'd like.

I'd imagine that most any BJ owner would be happy to work you.  Try spotting yourself on qrpspots.com, or announcing on the 4sqrp or BJ groups.   Good luck and have fun with the BJ, sure is a great little rig isnt it.

Hello Bob,

I have one for adoption. Also have a 17 meter version. I just never got into
QRP on those bands. If you are interested, make an offer - it probably will be
accepted.

Exciting

Wayne Steury

I have made four initial contacts with my cricket so far. It is exciting to make new contacts with this simple radio that is less than a watt of power. My only disappointment is that I cannot use a different frequency. I have four other crystals from KC9ON for 80 m. His other crystals work well with my pixie, 49or and Rockmite on 40 but not with the Cricket with 80 meter crystals.

Any discoveries for changing frequencies?

Notes on the Soup'er Up'er board

Jim Sheldon

I've been asked if I used Dave Martin's drilling template to drill the
holes for mounting the "Fine Tuning" pot and the "In/Out" switch for the
"Hi-Per-Mite" portions of the Soup'er Up'er. The answer is "no I
didn't" as I installed it on my Rev A (Green front panel) Bayou Jumper.
I have not installed one in my original "White Panel" BJ as I'm still
waiting for the club to get everything together to kit it so I can
obtain a second one.

As to drilling the holes in the proper places, Dave's drilling template
is only needed for the earlier model of the Bayou Jumper. The newer
ones with the Green front panel already have etched markings on the
underside of the panel in the exact places to drill these holes. There
is even a little center dot etched which acts just like you had
center-punched the panel to guide the drill. The size of the holes
depends completely on what you are using for the switch and the pot so I
won't go into that.

The accuracy in placement of the marks on the underside of the panel was
right on the money as I used a PC mount fine tuning control and mounted
it in the holes provided on the actual PC board (these are NOT provided
on the early BJ boards, only on the newer Rev A models.)

The positioning of the In/Out switch isn't overly critical but if you
use the markings on the underside of the panel it will clear all
obstacles and work just fine. At this time, I can't speak for the
placement accuracy of Dave's drilling templates, but as with his other
excellent information, I don't anticipate any problems using them on my
original BJ when the time comes.
