Re: 80 meter net
w2sh@...
Although the QNI numbers in last night’s 80m net were large, the overriding memory I have was the quantity of QRM created by would-be net participants.
There are procedural ways for this to be avoided.
For the most part these relate to the NCS, but one should not overlook the wanna-be QNIers who don’t listen first but nevertheless drop their callsigns. This may be their FIFO (“First In First Out”, an accounting term that relates to a method of inventory valuation) inspiration.
I frequently QNI the nets run by the Michigan QRP Club, the New England QRP Club and the Knightlites, a North Carolina QRP club. Many years ago I shared NCS responsibilities for an ARRL-affiliated net that was on 220 mHz FM.
In the spring of 2016 I sent a list of recommended NCS procedures to Wayne, NQØRP, who was then handling the 40m net. I want to look over what I wrote back then and suggest its substance to Johnny and Paul (and anyone else who may be contemplating an NCS function with 4SQRP or elsewhere) for their use.

Thanks to Ken / WA8REI, John / N0EVH & Terry / WA0ITP for helping me break a bottle of champaign over my just completed Cricket 80A last night. Three states in 14 minutes. An almost four way QSO right on the color burst frequency with half of the digital world and W1AW code practice to boot. Thanks to these three skilled ops for being there. It was FUN! / Woody / WD9F
