Question on Ozark Patrol

Jess Gypin

Where would be the best place to ask a question on the Ozark Patrol? I tried posting to the Ozark group but there seems to be not a lot of activity there.

If you are interested in seeing it while at OzarkCon, you can buy tickets on line, and with tickets in hand there is no waiting inline to get in.

Internet Archive of manuals

Walter - K5EST

I was looking for a manual for a farm tractor, this archive site had it.......wheew!!!!!

Interesting site to find manuals and other information including radios and computer gear.

https://archive.org/details/manuals?&sort=-downloads&page=1

The Internet Archive Manual Library is a collection of manuals, instructions, and datasheets.

Best part for me was the orderly way to find an item.

Don't Forget the 4SQRP Subgroups!

Tim N9PUZ

In addition to the main 4SQRP email group we also have several subgroups which are specialized support areas for builders and users of kits sold by 4SQRP. You may choose to join those subgroups for any kit for which you have an interest. Current subgroups are listed below. Observant readers may notice a kit or two you have never heard about. Word has it that all will be revealed at the 2018 Ozarkcon conference coming up in April!

Re: OzarkCon Ready! PRIZES!!!! lots of PRIZES!!!!

Ed Meyer, WG5F

We have certainly been busy at PRIZE CENTRAL!!!
The Turtle Shell finish on the Begali Contour is beautiful... just saying... it might get left home....
More stuff has been rollin' in:

The tool kits and soldering irons from Circuit Specialists arrived today.
I just ordered two Raspbery Pi kits to complement the discussion led by Mike Heitmann NØSO on D-Star.
We have more keys donated from Palm, and Morse Express to go along with the high quality ZN-MiniMite from N3ZN.
We have two OHR Wattmeters purchased by 4SQRP and a neat donation of several professionally built units from Mert - W0UFO and remember the Qrp-o-meters that have been donated by NM0S as well.
MFJ has stepped up their game this year with donations of a 40M Cub kit, and one of those nifty HF multi-band telescoping antennas that match up great for a FT-817 or KX2/KX3...
If you ever wanted an original Cricket 80 - this is the year/place to get it.  We'll be giving away 48 of them!
On top of that we'll draw names for 75 low pass filter kits.  Great stuff.
It's hard to imagine that OzarkCon attendees could possibly leave without winning SOMETHING (let alone multiple prizes.)
Take a look at the prize listings: http://www.ozarkcon.com/prizes.php
Thus far, registration is at 131.
Karen & I will be schlepping over 230 prizes to the table come April 6th & 7th.
I'd say your chances are pretty good!

p.s. did i tell you about the beautiful Turtle Shell finish on the Begali Contour?

Re: 40m Net

Hello Dale and everyone,

Was able to copy your call WN0WWY last night.  Took me a couple of times to get your complete call as QSB was in there also here in Lansing MI.  I was not able to get a good enough copy on the 40 meter net to check in.

Thanks also for the NRR info... Will get the HW8 out this weekend for a few contacts.  I build my HW8 in the early 80's waiting for my novice ticket to arrive.

Thanks Chas for hearing me with my Ten Tec Argo 509 ( at 2.5 watts ).  Sri I couldn't find you.
I was actually looking for you as the skip was long.  Will look more next week.

OK, I think I see the problem - the band is long and the QSB ain't helpin'.

I started the net early on 7119 kHz and got a call from Barry - AB4QL in AL - he was 579 and then he just vanished.
On the 0200Z  net  on 7122 kHz I got a call from Chas - W2SH in NJ - he was 449 - easy copy and then guess what - yep - evaporated.

Well this was kind of a bummer.

Try again next week.

[BayouJumperKit] SpyHunt Idea I’m going to try this weekend.

To: <BayouJumperKit@4sqrp.groups.io>

Hope this will work and you all find it fun.
In the spirit of the Paraset and the way it was used, I am going to initiate a “spy hunt” to try the idea.
Starting at 0230 03-09, 19:30 MST 03-08 on 07.030 I will send CQ PS CQ PS de AE0CW AE0CW, PS for Paraset. You call me with your call once or twice, I will answer with your call and a word.  Keep trying till I hear you. The word will be the first word of a phrase. At 0245 I will move to 07.122 and repeat the process. I will repeat this every 15 minutes alternating frequencies from 07.030 and 07.122.  So like this:
0200 07.030 word
0245 07.122 word
0300 07.030 word
0315 07.122 word
Not a long tryout. I am using this format so that there will be no “codes” used, just plain language. I will be using my BJ so I will have to tune around to hear you so be patient. I will use a straight key most of the time but my keyer for the CQ. Then you can email your completed phrase or most of what you got to my email, ontarget1912@..., and I will publish a list of who I heard and if they got the phrase. Obviously I am using the crystals and freqs that came with the kit and encourage the use of the BJ but not required.
This first time will probably be a mess, but might be fun. If it works out, we can rotate people being the “spy”.
What do you all think?
Jess AE0CW
