SSS Results

John Lonigro

For a change, I remembered to tally the results in a timely manner! Will wonders never cease?

This month, we had 9 participants, which isn't fantastic, but it's a reasonable showing.  We had two new entries this month:  Randy, AA9BD from Dixon, IL and Mike, AD0YM from Jefferson City, MO.  Based on your membership numbers, it looks like you both are fairly new to the 4SQRP Club as well.  Welcome and I hope you can make Ozarkcon next month.  Regardless, I hope you will be able to frequently participate in the SSS in the future.

Enough chit chat..  The winner for March was Carl, WB0CFF, with 19 QSO points.  Congratulations, Carl!  He must like being at the top of the stack.  He's been there all year so far and is racking up a pretty impressive score.  For the year, Carl has 76 QSO points, followed by Gary, KF7WNS, with 58 points and Bill, KV6Z, with 54. But the year is young.  There's plenty of time to catch up with those three.

Carl should expect to receive his certificate for winning the March contest shortly.  Congratulations to all who participated.

72,
John, AA0VE
4SQRP Contest Coordinator

O replaced that switch with one I had on hand. Mine was also not working right after install and hard to get to switch right. I just replaced it with a similar toggle switch I had on hand.

Ozark Patrol Band Switching Problems !
I also have a Ozark Patrol that has band switching problems !!!
It almost works perfectly !
The toggle switch was damaged by whoever cliped a solder lug off it !
It will work perfectly if I fiddle around with the switch !
A real pain though !
Buy and build kit that someone else damaged a part  !
MAYBE CUTTING THAT LUG OFF THE TOGGLE SWITCH IS NOT THE BEST IDEA !!!!!!!!!!!!
But other than a damaged TOGGLE SWITCH it works fine !
73 almost !

Low band seems to be deaf, can still hear some things, and even the background hiss going in and out of regen is about half the volume of the upper band. I can hear some cw at the bottom of 80 meters but the station has to be pretty loud. Also, from a cold start the upper band works fine but the lower band does not seem to go into oscillation as easy as the upper. Then it seems after a while, it works better but still doesn’t seem right. The lower half of the band seems more deaf than the upper part when the lower band is selected. Leaky cap? What do you all think? I have 0 experience with regen.

Maybe a cold solder joint somewhere which is making contact once it gets
warmed up?

Ok don’t know if the first message got through.
My Ozark Patrol seems to work fine on the Upper band bit not the lower band. This would seem to indicate that 90 percent of the radio is working right. Low band seems to be deaf, can still hear some things, and even the background hiss going in and out of regen is about half the volume of the upper band. I can hear some cw at the bottom of 80 meters but the station has to be pretty loud. Hi Everyone, today (Monday) is marking just 9 more days to pre-register for April 6 & 7th presentation of Ozarkcon 2018. Great guest speaker presentations, new product announcements, more prize drawings than any Ham Radio gathering you have attended in a loooong time!

Take a look and join in the fun……

Ron, Cancel What?  If it is removal from this group, then the best approach is to use the URL at the bottom of every message.
