Brian-

It's sounds like it's close enough.  The only other thing I can think of is that the trim cap needs to be adjusted further.

The audio active filter peaks at 750 Hz- or maybe it's at 800 Hz.  I've used that filter for at least 20 years and no longer remember which of those frequencies it was designed for.

Many thanks for the input.  When my HT20 is tuned to 14060, I hear it on
14060 on every other radio I own.  When I key up the K2 on 14060....I
get 14059.9 on the HT20...When I key up the K1 on 14060...I get 14059.9
on the HT20.

YAY...close enough for my old ears.  Filter is 400 Hz correct?

Ya know....a man with two watches, never knows what time it is. On my
old SW 40+ I was never sure of the exact frequency but always knew I was
in the right band.  Work 'em if ya hear 'em!

I have to hand it to Joe Trombino too, he's a fine builder, with mad
soldering skills.  Thanks for the radio Joe...now if 20m would come back
to life I'll have a QSO.

Dave I think I read in the docs or somewhere online the audio filter is designed for 800 Hz.

Any tips to heat up the receive a little bit?

Don,

I am jellin....I get home from work just as 20m is closing...so it seems.  Last night I couldn't even hear ARRL bulletins on 14047.5

I will keep trying.  I HAVE heard some stations on my HT20...but so far no joy on a QSO.

I remain hopeful ... and the weekend is coming up

You guys should post when you are going to be on air.  I’d be happy to listen on 20.  When I do hear stations, it’s often the intrepid QRP ops, because everyone else has abandoned 20 meters.

We might be a bit close, but I will have my radio on around that time until I go back to work at the end of next week.  That’s getting toward gray line time and sometime I get short skip on 20/30 meters.

K9NVN,

Don't give up the ship OM.

This dead band era has been a revelation to me. Off air for years my last QRP activity yielded contacts like Norway on 30M running 1W. Japan mobile at rest on 40M running 3W.

It's good to be back in the game regardless. And condx can only improve.

Important reminder

John Lonigro

I usually let the automatic reminder tell you about the Second Sunday Sprint coming up this Sunday (March 10th).  However, this Sunday is special.  It's the first day of Daylight Saving Time. Since the sprint schedule is relative to local time, not UCT, the time for the net is 7:00pm - 9:00pm Sunday night Central Daylight Time (8:00-10:00 EDT, 5:00-7:00 PDT, etc).  However, if you like to use UTC instead, the sprint times are now 0000Z-0200Z Monday.  They will continue like this until we go back to standard time in November.  The bottom line is, unless you use UTC, the net will be at the same local time it was last month.  The only difference is it will be lighter outside when the net begins, which may affect propagation.

Also, if your smoke detector still has a replaceable battery, it might be a good time to check or replace it.  And check the batteries in your weather radio.

Had a nice QSO with Chas in NJ but, except for that one QNI, I was mostly talking to myself.
Maybe next week?

With an hour less of evening darkness courtesy of daylight saving time, kilomile QSOon 40m and 80m to the west will be more difficult from NJ.

But I'll still give it a try.

Quiet as a church on Monday morning here in FL.

Hopefully the time change will give me some legs next week and also for the SSS, but who knows........ I really need the practice.

Sorry guys I can not pull anyone out of the S8 noise tonight maybe next time.. I copied one station k3??? in VA but never got the whole call... tnx de Paul N0NBD

Re: 80 meter net

w2sh@...

NØNBD's tenure as tonight's NCS was brief.  He was 559/569 here in NJ.

Besides myself, other would-be QNIs I heard were K3NLT 579/599; K4VIG 579; KV6Z 559.

It will be tougher next week with Daylight Saving Time.
