It will take me a few days to begin bagging them, but they're almost ready to

of this group buy was to provide pigrig owners a way to check into Wayne's net
and participate in club qso's on 7122. I have more sets than needed so when the
original requestors sets are mailed, I'll announce the remaining qty in case
others would like a set also.

On a different but related note, Dave's new Cyclone 40 sold well at FDIM and
received much interest. Thanks to strong last minute efforts by Dave and Dan,
KB9JLO, we had 21 kits to sell at the club table on vendor and and club nights
(Thurs and Fri). As soon as Dan can catch up and kit more of them, sales will
be opened up and an announcment made on the reflector. If you was Dave's
presentation at Ocon, you know that this is an exciting and innovative design.
It received many oohs and ahhs from expert perusers at FDIM. Look for it to be
availble fpor general sales in a few weeks. The Cyclone tunes the whole 125 kc
segment of the 40M band, covering the lower QRP freq and DX watering holes, as
well as 7122 for club activities.

Good stuff going on at Four State, stay tuned ...

Why do I need two Pig Rigs? Pig Rig #33 has worked 20 some odd states and 3 countries. I would like to get 44.00 for the kit #76 which is what I paid Diz. I placed a order with Terry for the 7122 crystals so you can get them from Terry when they come in if you want them. Postage will be 4.00. I also have an unassembled SW-40+ with the connectors/control kit. Everything needed except the cabinet. Doesn't look like I'll ever get around to building it. Would like to get 75.00 for it which includes the postage. Thanks!

I am all for 4SQRP having revenue streams to fund Ozarkon and the
development of new kits but this is exactly the problem I would see with
shirts or anything that involves specific sizes for that matter.

Years ago I sold a t-shirt of my own design to make a few bucks. The
problem is after the initial order when it's "new" it is tough to make
money or break even. Murphy conspires against you and you never have the
sizes you need to fill an order. To get a reasonable price you have to
order minimums even if the printer keeps the screens for you. You end up
with lots of shirts in every size except for the one you're out of stock
on and then you need to place an order for 20 or 30 total just to get
that one you need.

This is a venture for someone with a) their own silk screening
equipment, or b) more time and money than they know what to do with. All
just my opinion of course.

Is the ROI for shirts worthy for the effort needed? The T could be sent out in a flat rate envelope for a few dollars, maybe.  The big problem that I see is having sizes from Small to 5X, it's not a simple one size fits all.

Hats would be a lot easier.

My opinion would be that if a local group wanted to order 100 shirts for local folks, fine. Even offering them to club member by the reflector. But to embark on an International endeavor might not give a good return on investment (ROI) for 4SQRP to own.

I slept in my first morning of vacation, my dang phone has rung off the table.... Work calling... Anyhow I buy t shirts for my crew at the college. Blue pocket tees with the college logo on the pocket. The vendor in Chanute has a 48 shirt minimum and last years were about 8 bucks each. Turn around was a couple weeks. That's what I know about it. I did go look online at custom ink.com it looks easy to do there as well even uploading artwork. There was a number to talk to a real person too...

Re: FDIM Requests

Rich Fowler <k8meg@...>

I sent this direct to Terry, but sharing with the group...

Hi Terry,

The MI QRP has put out silk screen T-shirts that I think cost about $5-7 and sell them for $15. You probably seen a few at Dayton. These are generic with a saying like  Witts Over Watts. I don't recall what the new ones have on them. The club is identified but no logo. Anyway they are done locally.  To me, you get what you pay for...the lettering starts to wear off after a few months, etc.

I don't know the details on their embroidered  sport shirt, but they cost (sell for) about $35, I'm guessing. The person's name and call sign are embroidered around the MIQRPCLUB logo.

As for hats and, yet to be mentioned, badges, I think that most hams would like their call included so I think that someone like the Sign Man of Baton Rouge would be a good source for that if people want that or he might be able to screen (?) 4SQRP generic hats. If the Sign Man had our logo, he could make badges for members who would like them.

Dave, from ham threads, http://www.hamthreads.com/ used to live in Michigan and his products are good. I just threw away a denim shirt that I bought from him about 10 years ago... lots of wear. He gives a quantity discount. But there is an initial expense to set up the logo.

I'm sure lots of towns have embroidery and print shops that are also capable of meeting the need.  Probably would be a good idea to define what goes on the items. Logo#1 for hats and Logo#4 from Logo and Banner web page or something new. Maybe put it out there for people to accept or redesign?

Re: FDIM Requests

Dale Putnam

If someone could send the design, I would be plumb happy to check out what is available here... for comparison.
What is desired on the T.. and what is desired on the cap.. besides the call in front or side... or back, or not at all?
Have a great day,

It maybe good to investigate the same folks that the NAQCC use (the link is on their website), I can't remember what they cost but I seem to remember that the ball caps were fairly reasonable. I'm sorry that I don't have time to persue this right now but given a week or so I maybe able to get back to teh group with some info. As an aside, Rattlesnake Ed (GORC) looked into getting some shirts printed up and the cost came out at around $30.00 apice. Personally I'm just not up for paying that kinda money for a tee shirt. ALL my tee's get used and abused.
Again, give me some time and I'll get back to y'all unless someone else wants to do this quicker.

If you're interested in embroidered hats/shirts I could find some info on prices (my wife does that work).  Screenprinting can be cheaper in quantity but you need to have them all done at the same time (unless the shop will keep the screen for you).
