OHR Sprint I instructions
KN6KR
Good afternoon. I am glad to be admitted into this group. I have been trying to find instructions for the Oak Hills Research Sprint 1 30 meters QRP rig (from around 1992 or 1993). I built it in high school and now it does not seem to function. Does anyone by any chance have the instructions in pdf format? I was able to get a pdf copy of the Sprint II instructions but it is my understanding that the Spring I and Sprint II use different transmitters. I tried to reach out to the successor to OHR, Milestone Tech, but I don’t believe that company is active any more. Thank you, Charles, KN6kR

John Thank you very much for admitting me into the group. I am very intrigued by the Sprint; I will try it once I get a qrp transceiver up and running. Thanks and 73 Charles KN6KR

I just looked up your call on the 4SQRP member list and I see you are there, which means you are officially a member of 4SQRP. Your member number can be found by hovering over your call on the member list. I already did that and your number is 2218. I would tell you the club's secret handshake, but I don't think we have one (hi). But I will tell you to try the Second Sunday Sprint, which is on the 2nd Sunday of each month, from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm central time (either CST or CDT, whichever is in effect at the time). Full rules can be found on the 4SQRP website, under "on air activities". The June SSS won't be until June 14th. 72 and welcome to the club, John, AA0VE 4SQRP Contest Coordinator

Before doing this to the torroid coil windings, measure their resistances first with an ohm meter. You might have a cold solder joint on one or more of these coil wires, due to the fact that there is transparent enamel insulation around these wires. You undoubtedly carefully scraped off this enamel insulation, but it could be deceptive. It is possible that solder flowed around, but did not stick properly to the wires. I had this happen and had to re-solder mine as such. Visual examination did not reveal the problem, so I carefully tinned the wires and when this appeared ok, I re-soldered the coil back on to the board. This time I had success, and my set worked. Keep us up to date on your attempts to get your receiver going. Hope you get yours up and running soon. 73s Jerry Wysocki, KC9JXE

So trying to correct low volume through the speaker, changing L1 may have produced lots of hiss in the headphones but no RF gain ( regeneration ). Also, a gimmick of about 1" twist was good for me using the station antenna. BTW, whoever designed and kitted this radio did a first class job, this regen receiver worked right off of the build table, unlike some others I have built. Especially if the description has "high performance" in the name, I had poor results. Like my dear old Dad always said, better to under promise and over perform than the other way around. Curt KB5JO

Those are good book suggestions.
Thanks for the review of the stories. The TinyCat Library is getting pretty full now. i have to limit the total number of books because of the scrolling banner. It is taking 3 minutes right now to scroll through all the books. i could add hundreds of book in a tabular list without a scrolling banner. https://www.librarycat.org/lib/W0RW 73 Paul w0rw
