V. E. testing in St. Louis? Slightly off topic
Don, W9EBK
I know this isn't the group's focus but, I received an inquiry from someone wanting to take the Technician exam in the St. Louis area in the very near future. I haven't found any listing for V. E. sessions around St. Louis. Do any of you know of an upcoming V.E. session in that area? Thanks, Don, W9EBK

My bad, I just noticed a note under photo 11 that says
A future change to PCB will add pads for R6
but thanks for the reply

Re: 4S Tuner Build Question

I must have the older version of the 4S tuner because my board
matches the instructions. What you should be able to do with your
version is check the pads with an ohmmeter to see how they are wired
up. I suspect you'll find the LH pad of R6 connects to the LH pad
of R4 and the RH pad connects to the RH of R5. The missing R6 pads
on the older version was likely a mistake remedied in the newer
batch and the instructions need to be updated to reflect that.

I am not associated with these kits in any way, other than as a user. The above is strictly my opinion. When NM0S has time, if I said something wrong, he should chime in and correct me. 72, John, AA0VE

Got a question on the placement of R6 on the 4S-Tuner board. On page 8 in manual it says "Solder to LH end of R4 and the RH of R5" In Photo 11 on page 15, it shows this arrangement BUT it also shows only 2 sets of pads for the three resistors. On my board, there are clearly three sets of pads that are marked R4,R5, R6. See attached pic.

So am wondering if there was a change in later editions of this kit and R6 needs to be soldered to its own set of pads? Hoping someone has some experience with this kit?

Re: Polyvaricon Source Wanted
There's also this one at Mike's:
https://www.mikeselectronicparts.com/product/variable-capacitor-266pf/ It's used in this small transmitting loop: https://k1fm.us/2015/07/k1fm-mini-magnetic-loop-2-0/ and has a 3d printed version (made by someone else) here:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4036000 I mentioned the loop before, when I posted the ebay link for the cap I bought. But I got a request for the Thingiverse page as well, so there you go. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73, Gwen, NG3P

There have been several positive suggestions made for Polyvaricon sources on the GQRP reflector this month.
I'd suggest you look at their archives, or else post your need on their site.

really appreciate the offers to dig through junk boxes, etc. to try and get my the parts. I wasn't opposed to ordering from the UK or elsewhere, I'm just not very patient once I get started and a lot of places I found indicated my order probably wouldn't have arrived before the end of August. Re: Polyvaricon Source Wanted
I bought four from this source:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Gang-AM-FM-Variable-Capacitor-266pF-X-2-and-20pF-X-2-500pF-Total/113059337104 They're your typical AM/FM radio devices. I found a small transmitting loop on Thingiverse that uses them, so I bought some. I printed up the enclosure and planetary gearing for it, but haven't had the time to fiddle with it and build the darned loop. That'll probably be a winter project. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73, Gwen, NG3P
