Re: Sprint tonight

Mike

Great sprint last night: Boy some of you were really stuck in the mud but managed to pull you out. One I thought I would never get his nr. but eventually we had a QSL. I think it was Rod WA4ZOF.

Stations worked:
N0NBD
WA4ZOF
WBQQT
AB9CA
W0XI
AND KV6Z (MY NEIGHBOR IN CLAREMORE, OK)
All but the first 2 were in the old Novice section of the 40M band around 7.122.

I had one fellow jump in, (KA4RRU), wondering what CQ 4S meant. Just so he wasn't left out he gave me his SKCC nr. So I linked him up to the 4s web page. He has a nice shack with a complete ant farm. Hmmmm wonder what 1/2 Watt would do from there. Anyway I'm going to make up a custom QSL card using the club call and send it to him as a momento.

Can't wait for the next one.

Dave posted a message on Facebook earlier that his email address was hacked. I'd advise NOT opening any links in a message that seems to be from him until he gets things sorted out.

Certainly enjoyed the Sprint. Lots of fun ! Boy do I ever like that Hi-Per-Mite audio filter now. HI HI. Managed to work 11 thru all the noise. Looking forward to the next one.

Looks like Dave's email address has been hijacked.

If you get an email supposedly from him that has a subject similar to "News from

I suggest not clicking it.

Hey,

It's a bunch of baloney. Look at the actual link and the stuff near the right hand end. It is a nonsense non-word that kinda sorta maybe resembles and abbreviation for "equipment". But it's not quite. If it really is legit (you can bet the farm it isn't) good ole Cripe will be back with a better explaination.

Take a pass.

Johnny, AC0BQ on 20meters.    Thanks Johnny for hanging in there!

I thought this was my chance to finally make some contact with 4 State members since this was open to 15 and  20 meter.  At the starting gun I chased AC0BQ and W0XI on 40 meters but they could not hear me.  I spent the rest of the first hour or so on 15 and 20 but no luck whatsoever.  I finally whined on QRP Spots and N0US gave  me a frequency on 20 but again, he couldn’t hear me.  Finally connected with Johnny on 20 for my only contact.

Saving grace- I was operating in the pool with my ATS4 so at least I was relatively cool. It was over 100 degrees here today and well over 90 in the shack.   Yeah, I know, water and electricity don’t go together…

Looking forward to the next sprint.

Man am I disappointed... had this on my mind all day... rebuilt my antenna to get a really good test... the sprint
would have done that just perfect. then.. wouldn't you know it? My plans got rearranged.. and I had to run an errand ...got there.. that didn't pan out.. so I get to do it again tomorrow.. but in the mean time.. I lost the window of opportunity. So... when is the next one?
Inquiring.. (delayed, rearranged, deranged) minds want to know...
ONE is just NOT enough!!

Have a great day,

Prop seemed to be not too bad here on the Gulf coast. But the noise, OTOH, was bad. Lots of lightning crashes. Storms along the coast and up into the Midwest made it tough to pull out weak signals. Quite a few fills. Still fun, of course. See everyone next month . . .

Hey 4s sprinters!

I have to second that Johnny, I only made 15 contacts but it was fun. One more sprint and I'll have a 2nd W25 depending upon the contacts.
Everybody have a good week. 72, Uncle Phil in KS. Gave my new Bengali paddle a trial tonite! Got to admit that I like the little "bugger" that I bought directly from Mr. Bengali himself at the Dayton hamfest just three weeks ago.

Hi Todd,

I'm in northern Michigan and i have been copying European DX and a some from the middle east on 20 meters. I just copied a couple of QSOs on 40 meters from Much closer to home. But the bands are not dead..at least not here.

I have been using Spectran and it's DSP boost to help pull signals out of the noise. None of the signals except the local (Great Lakes area) QSO were moving my S meter at all. When I took out the DSP many of the signals were *lost* not not all. I'm not running any fabulous DX station here.
