Hello Dan
You may have received a switch that’s
Not the correct one.

We should probably send you another ploy Varicon.
That one sounds questionable.

Email me direct with your shipping info please.

Thanks

I will second Dan.  I had one of my caps go bad and you could see the fins buckling up.  I suspect yours may either buckle in the future or may be starting to know.  The 4SQRP guys are real good about replacing any parts that are not working/bad.

Good luck.

Dan,

1 -  My 4SQRP Tuner has a DPDT toggle switch. I suspect your switch was supplied due to a parts supply issue with the original switch.

2 -  Doesn’t sound good. Make sure the polyvaricon mounting screws aren’t too long, then they might be pressing on the end of the cap plates. Sounds like a recipe for failure!

Note on the SSCPO: big improvement in sound

wa2cky

Just as an FYI for any other builders - the sound output and quality improve quite a bit if the unit is just tilted up a bit at the back or mounted a 1/2" or so off the table. Apparently lots of good stuff coming off the back of the speaker which is lost with the SSCPO just sitting on it's little feet.

Bert,

I am thrilled when I enter a room and actually remember why I went there !

I copied Gary, N3OS on 7122 ( he’s about 7 miles from me) but I heard nothing on 80m.

Thanks for your efforts.

Bayou Jumper kit wanted

Randy Cooley

If anyone has an unbuilt bayou jumper kit that they would like to sell, i I'm interested in purchasing it. If you have a Soup-er-upper kit, I'm interesting in purchasing that too. You can reply back to me at Kc9utm@....
Thanks, Randy

Re: New member and video link

Roland,

You were solid copy, S3, at my campsite in Sunriver, Oregon.

I was running 5 Watts into a ladderline fed 82’ doublet, configured as an inverted Vee with the center up 30 feet.

Can’t remember what antenna you were using, if you said.

However, a good solid contact.

Hope to hear you again soon.

Hi Woody, loong time no hear hope all is well with you.   Were you able to resolve this issue?  Are you talking abt R46 in the Magic Box?
Happy to help if I can.

I am running the above and finally got around to swapping out R46.  Replaced the 1 MegOhm resistor with a 100 ohm resistor.  I had that on my list of things to do to allow for spotting of the SAVXO in the SS440....but, can someone remind me how that should work now?  Practically speaking?  I still hear no spot.  I have verified that the SAVXO is working properly.  It moves the transmit frequency heard in a nearby FT-817ND.  I just can't hear any spotting in the SS40.  Feel free to answer off list at fghester@...  Thanks for any advice offered and 72! / Woody / WD9F
