Personally I think if you can't on rare occasions deviate a tad on subject matter, then one should never give credit to 4SQRP on any other reflector.  That said, I don't really know what the official ruling is on all this.  I certainly don't mind a deviation from time to time.  But, I must admit, all the well wishers at Christmas time and New Years gets a little old.  If you want to do it, send them privately.  The message that bugs me is  "I agree!"  Anyway,  how about just being a little tolerant as things will calm down shortly.  Take  a breath and stay away from the keyboard.  Life is too short for petty annoyance to take your time!   (I've got to tell myself this all the time!)

Tim,

Hmmm? It was gone a while ago...I just now looked, and it is still gone...it was headed up with "Little Joe -Whatizzit?" and I don't find that anywhere on the site.  Something happened to it.

It doesn't matter now, as several 4SQRO members sent me copies of the QST project article or a schematic for a Little Joe.  One even gave me the call of AE5VM, the Little Joe expert/guru.

I know I can't discuss Non-4SQRP stuff which is in competition with the 4SQRP kits and wouldn't do so.  But, I don't see how asking for how to find info on the Little Joe was a violation.  All I needed was a schematic and preferably a copy of the 39 year old article on it.  The Little Joe was neither a commercial rig or kit, just an old QST project.

Heaven forbid if I should mention even older stuff, like a 1960's Tuna Tin, ask how a spark gap transmitter works.

Ron,
Have you checked with Rich Kennedy at expandedspectrumsystems.com? I’ve bought 10.106, 10.110, 10.116, 10.125, and 10.140 crystals from him for my Cricket30, and I believe he may be able to supply the reasonable quantities you need for the kits.

Yes, this is something I have wondered about. I read the group rules and was glad I did because I had once considered posting a couple of “non-4SQRP” QRP rigs for sale. I have never been closely involved with the group but did attend one Branson meeting and have enjoyed the discussions. I am glad I read the rules because I’m sure I would have had my hands slapped for the for sale items. I guess the problem is that by not being closely involved, I didn’t realize that 4SQRP is not really a club. I used to think of it as the QRP club for this region, which had a core of members who made kits. Now, I think either I misunderstood, or things have changed. I understand that the kits are a public service and no one is making a living off of them, I just didn’t realize the focus of the group had become so rigid.

I have bought a few 4SQRP rigs, and will certainly limit any future posts to those rigs or specific 4SQRP activities if I stay in the group. I sure wish there was a regional QRP group where we could discuss general QRP subjects with people in the same geographical area, and possibly occasionally sell an item to known people without resorting to eBay or QRZ.com, etc.

Hello Eugene, Tim
I don’t find any trace of it either.

I going to say it was a accident or a plain old mistake?

All I can say is that we’re sorry it happened.

You are welcome to post old time projects from QST as far as I know.
It sounds like QRP and or radio to me.

GM EuGene,

On our last run it took us over a year to procure one of the crystals and we incurred additional expense shipping them out to those who purchased the kits.  If memory serves me, to continue with the kit, we had to order either 1K or 5K of the crystals from the vendor and we felt selling that many kits was way out of reach.  Once the dust settles from efforts on forthcoming new kits, we can check and see if the crystal problem has resolved itself. If it hasn’t, the 4SQRP Kit Manager will have to decide whether to retire the kit.

Laugh with me. LOL or HI HI  Reading two comments about things not allowed on this thread.  Dale, as I recall, you got 'flamed' for mentioning Cheyenne Days last year.  So, without a doubt comments need to be about 4SQRP or their kits/equipment.

I was mildly irritated by a  couple of unnecessary comments about Christmas wishes on here.  After a couple of days the moderator(s) came out with a bureaucratic comment about that one.

Well, it is 'their' thread.

For the life of me I don't know what I did or said that was wrong, but the thread about that old QST project got removed, so I must have stepped one some toes.  In a most innocent manner I was just trying to get some information about it, if it would still be usable under current FCC standards, and was it worth building.  I didn't even have a circuit for it and didn't have a copy of the 39 year old QST that had the project in it.

Anyhoo, even though it was not a commercial kit by some other source, not 4SQRP, it still cannot be mentioned on here.  Please don't ask me any questions about my station, because I have some non-4SQRP rigs and cannot name them on here.

New revB Bayou Jumper on the air

Jim, N5IB

Tomorrow (2 Jan) from 1500Z 'till 1559Z I will be one of the SKCC's K3Y special event operators
operating as K3Y/5 on probably 40, 30, and maybe 20 depending on propagation.
I'll be running 50+ watts with an old TS-430S

But........
During the preceding hour (1400Z to 1459Z) I will try try to put a revB Bayou Jumper beta build on the air at about 7020.1 kHz.
As you may have read in earlier messages, The 'Jumper is coming back! This is one of the beta kits - just completed and checked out.
