moderated I've received a scam e-mail that says I'm suspended

I received an e-mail purportedly from 4SQRP Owner saying I am or will be suspended from this site because I supposedly sent a spam e-mail which appears to be about a 40 meter endorsement for Bert Banlier F6HKA.  No such e-mail came from this computer.

Has anyone else on here gotten anything like this?  It couldn't be a phishing e-mail inasmuch as I haven't bought or sold anything here, so the scammer wouldn't get into my bank, credit card, etc. if I stupidly clicked on on if the blue links in that e-mail.  One of them was the message about the award...they could have copied a legitimate 4SQRP award message title and are using it as the title of a link to some sort of malware.  The other link was "Resume Subscription"

I haven't deleted the message yet, as I don't know if someone, the owner or moderator wants to review it or has some instruction on some e-mail address where I should forward it so the source can be tracked.

Re: New Bayou Jumper Owners

You may certainly still apply for your Secret Agent Number.
I'll update the application form and get it to the WebMaster to put on the kit webpage.
Give a couple of days for that to happen.

Of the two-digit numbers, we are at Agent 065, though 086 is already assigned (Mike, how about telling us the story one more time)
and 099 is still, years later, reserved for the first YL to apply.

One glitch is that I no longer have a color laser printer.
So I can't make nice white-on-blue decals like the white-on-green of before.
A test decal of black on clear did not show up well at all.
I can do black on white, but that doesn't promise to look good on the blue panel.
Or I can do white on clear with a Brother P-touch, but can't do the fine detail, and only two lines.

For the certificates, after the few remaining are gone, may have to resort to making a customized PDF that each Agent can download and print.

Can't offer much as to a secret decoder ring -- BTW... I had a Captain Midnight -- Ovaltine, uugghh!
But google "paper Enigma," and also read the coding instructions in the Files area of this Group.

The higher gain should only be appropriate to integrate into rigs that are short in audio gain. I also suggest 0 dB.

If you did decide to introduce a speaker, its the matter of having enough power to drive the speaker. Note amplified speakers account for the power needed. Since this is a covert radio, I suggest staying with headphone audio (-:

Re: New Bayou Jumper Owners

Hi Keith,

Once we make our first QSO with our Jumpers, can we still apply for our Secret Agent Number?  I noticed on the application form that it doesn’t have a choice for the new Rev B Blue panel model.  Was this done to snag nasty Nazi interlopers, and we have to know to make ourselves a write-in candidate?

This is going to be a blast-and-a-half! I’ll bet some vendor-buyer coordinator at the Hobby Lobby HQs is wondering why they’re suddenly having to order pallet-loads of the raw materials to be transformed into the Official Bayou Jumper Wooden Box Case!

It would be amazingly cool if we could come up with a Bayou Jumper version of the Little Orphan Annie Official Secret Decoder Ring, ala the one featured in the Jean Shepherd movie  “A Christmas Story”.  Perhaps a 3-D printed model could be hacked up that could be printed locally and/or ordered from one of the on-line 3-D printing vendors.

One of those could even be used to create fine sand molds to make cast metal versions, and if the demand were enough, even make a metal mold for serial production.  Hey, we need something to do while waiting for the practice and real secret agent sessions to roll around on January 20th and in March!

I built mine with zero gain.
It seems to be a good middle of the road.
I guess you could add gain if your trung to run a speaker,bu the Zero gain is good for headphones.

Re: Possible Bayou Jumper operating event

Jim

well if you study 40m propagation now you may discover the band is quite long at time - so with many stations in 4 state region and about - good to have someone who is not close!  wow 'Houston' is quite heroic also (aka Apollo 13) -- you may wish to recruit a few geographically dispersed net control stations - and okay of course to keep it on CW (I was honestly thinking split -- not necessarily CW and SSB on same frequency).

when you built your BJ prototype I built a similar Tx, but went a different direction on a regen receiver - the WBR - not integrated but I did use the tuna tin 2 +mosfet Tx with a magic box (so forgive my QSK !).

have fun - I might be away when you do the initial one, but it might catch on to be done again maybe.
