situations, we knew that we wanted to build a library about these courageous women for our granddaughter. We would like her to see what it means to be a liberated woman of character.

Never mind. I did those mods the way I thought was correct & they work fine. Next I want to add a 9V regulator for 11 - 14 V input, then I'll box it up and be done & enjoy using it. It already gets more stations and cover pretty much the entire AM band - as far as I can tell. Which is the "high" side of R3? I think it is the side that does not go to the return/ground. This "high" side is now going to be connected to C6 instead of C6 going to the wiper of R3. The wiper now goes to R1 and through R1 to U1 input, as feedback to control the detector gain of U1. This makes sense to me, so, do I have this correct? I don't know why this is working but here's what I did for my first mod: I added a short piece of wire, 2", from the end of the antenna out. This is so I can add a screw to the top of the case for a long wire addition if wanted. I added enough loops to the loopstick antenna to get it to 61. I then had to back track as those pushed the tuning dial way past where I wanted it to go. WBAL at 1090 was now tuning in on the dial, was 7 - 9, at 17. At this point I removed about 10 loops to make it only ~ 51 loops and that moved 1090 down to ~ 14. To make a long story short I kept removing loops until there was only one extra loop and now 1090 is right around 11. I felt that was good enough. So, I added 2" of wire to the far, left side, end solder pad going straight up to the top of the case, this will change as I build the case. I flipped the loopstick so I could add wire on the side going towards the tuner but only ended up adding only one loop. My tickler loop is still flat against the board. I recall being way below the lower edge, this is all about being able to cover 120 kHz or so of the band. If you are way below, you have some turns to remove. Also if you are from the original batch Terry introduced a change to the pto design to improve stability, an appropriate value poly capacitor. Its a cool rig enjoy your tweaking. Curt wb8yyy

Cyclone 40 Assistance

Hello everyone.
Finally completed my long-stored Cyclone 40 and am having trouble in the PTO alignment step: unable to get the counter anywhere close to 0-0-0-0. Since this kit was made several years ago, I'm looking for someone who has built one in the past. Please respond of-line so we don't consume BW of those not interested. There are very few Cyclone40 related messages in the 4sqrp/main group so either they neither made it from the original yahoo group or nobody had problems with their PTO. Hi Curt, Yep, that's the plan. Make simple mods first - Think I'll shorten the loop a bit & see if that helps even more than bending it flat to the board to get it away from the loopstick, Then add more loops, one mod suggested ~ 72 loops & the tuner would then match up better to the printed frequencies. Hey I found this: https://goodcalculators.com/resonant-frequency-calculator/ This shows if the cap is at 100 pf and the inductor at 350 µH the Resonant freq (Rf) is ~850 KHz, if the inductor is 300 µH then the Rf ~ 918 KHz so if my Rf is too low on the dial it means I need less inductance and that means fewer loops around the ferrite.
