I went to the "Four State Kit Index" page but found no mention of the Hilltopper.kit. Where can I read about it?  ---  http://www.4sqrp.com/kitIndex.php

Just a heads up.  If you are considering purchasing a Hilltopper kit I
only have 8 kits left and I have not heard any discussion about doing

great kits and Dave Benson did a fantastic job on them.

Thank you.

I remember in the very first sample issue of WorldRadio I received as a
Novice, the January 1984 issue, the Aerials column by Kurt N. Sterba was
taking this thing to task. Up to that point I only received QST and had
no prior knowledge of the device. His exposé proved beneficial for
sorting the wheat from the chaff for this new ham. Unfortunately, I see
little such straight talk these days.

RE: Dummy Load Contest
Back in the 60's, some local Novices got on 80 using Dummy Loads before their Licenses came. One day, another Kid 12 miles away broke in on his Dummy Load.  I found out, that my 8.5 watt input could get Chicago 80 miles away using a 300 watt Bulb with a 100' extention Cord in between. My 2-3 watts out couldn't light it.

Who remembers the 1:1 SWR Dipole sold around 1980 (MaxCon?) that was just a 50 ohm Resistor with a couple wires attached across the Load?

7122 could be alive with Dummy Signals across the midwest. Dig out those Pig Rigs :) sure, there's a bunch of the in Drawers or on Shelves, quietly crying from being forgotten. I bet some could even be  easily Sold.

Like Crafts and Wood Working? How about Lighthouses? Make a Lighthouse Lightbulb Antenna or Dummy Load. A bonus, the Light can light with Modulation Peaks or Key Taps. Use a Clear Bulb. Something like a 4-watt Night Light 💡 or 40-watt Appliance Bulb.

Perhaps plan on Friday Night, Saturday Night, and Sunday.

Just a heads up, according the Attendees List on the OzarkCon site, Dwain Sims AC5EH is listed twice as well (registrations #67 and #68), and there is a blank registration for #76.

It will work quite well, but instead of using a dummy load this year please use a resonant antenna!

I have built and use all three Hilltoppers transceivers. In my opinion they offer the best performance for the cost. They are not overly difficult to build and all have very good well documented manuals. The circuitry is also well proven design and the board layout is not too crowded. If you take your time and follow the instructions in the order presented in the manual you really can't go wrong. I agree with Johnny. The SSCPO is a great kit and having a code oscillator around can be handy.  I bought a SSCPO a couple years ago to teach my grandson how to solder and give him some practice following instructions.  It was a great success. It is a simple, low cost, low risk but high benefit kit.
