HI HI HI HI HI ... re: whimsey   the only thing I see that 'may' be changed is the colon (demarcation as Bill labeled it) in the 24 hour, aka military, time stamp. In either 24 hour or military time there is no colon.  Why? The whole idea about 24 hour or military time is to NOT CONFUSE anyone about the time. Colons in civilian time are acceptable but not in 24 hour or military time.

Otherwise, and even that didn't phase me, who cares?  So you get a reminder why beat it to death over a "personal whim"?

That's my story.....

In further consideration of the whimsey, I also like the reminders; however, to specify time in military time format, the times, without colon demarcation, require a letter designating the time zone as in 2000S to 2100S. And then there is the question of date format as DD/MM/YY versus MM/DD/YY versus fully specifying the year in either format as YYYY. On second thought, is the / required?

I think we understand the reminder as is and one session I hope to participate!

I like these notices, reminders, BUT I do not like how long the subject is, couldn't you make it a bit shorter by removing the redundant parts, how about:

Change:

[4SQRP] Wednesday Evening 40 and 80 meter Nets - Wed, 02/24/2021 20:00-21:00 #cal-reminder

to:

[4SQRP] Reminder: 40 and 80 meter Nets - Wed, 02/24/21 2000-2100

After all Wed. 02/24/21 2000 - 2100 says it all.

Also in the 24 hr clock no " : " is used, and the year 2021 isn't needed 21 will do but even if used it's much shorter.

[4SQRP] Reminder: 40 and 80 meter Nets - Wed, 02/24/2021 2000-2100

;-) - please forgive me for this nonsensical email.

I'm not active in the net, but remember that Daylight Saving Time starts in less than 3 weeks.  Since the net is held at 8:00 pm Central time and not UTC, that means the net will be an hour earlier (according to the sun) starting real soon.  It will be held at the same local time (8:00 pm Central time), so don't get confused.  This holds for the Second Sunday Sprint as well (7:00-9:00 pm Central time on the 2nd Sunday of the month).

AM Murania Radio Receiver C8 Mod

Philip Karras <ke3fl@...>

I change cap C8 from 47 pf to ~ 59 pf so that 1090 moved from being closer to 9 to closer to the 9 side of 11 where it should be.

I felt changing the cap would be much easier than figuring out how to change the loop-stick antenna loops. I tried that once & had to undo almost everything I added.

Re: Freq Mite Frequency Counter

WA4EFS

The schematic for the 4SQRP Freq Mite kit solved a puzzle for me, namely how to boost a small Hi-Z input voltage to a robust 5 volts in order to drive a counter or etc., without loading the source.

Still another puzzle, sort of a flip side problem, is driving me crazy: How does a bench function generator produce a constant voltage at its 50 ohm output over a multi-megahertz range?

For example, if I set the function generator to produce a 500 mV P-P sine wave at 20 KHz, and then twirl the frequency knob up to 10 or 15  or 20 MHz, the output voltage remains constant (within a few %). How is this accomplished?
