Congratulations John! That sure beats the one and only prize I ever won at a hamfest! I attended the Catawba Valley Hamfest in Morganton, (Burke County), NC several years ago and they have a net on 10 meters and 40 meters SSB called The Grit Net , check out their website and in particular The Grit Poem written by William Faulkner, KS4AA. Well, the prize awarded by them was a one-year supply of grits and that's what I won in one of the drawings! LOL!

4SQRP Prize Received

KW4JS

I just wanted to drop a note to confirm the receipt of the 80 meter low pass filter kit.  This is the first hamfest prize I have received in my ham career out of the many hamest I have attended in person or virtually.

I also wish to take a moment to thank the folks who organized, sponsored and conducted the OzarkCon Virtual Hamfest.  I finally got to put faces with call signs I have worked or interacted with while attending via Zoom.  I enjoyed the presentations through the event.  The only regret was not making contact with the K0N during the event.  Once again thanks and job well done to all!

Wow...tough propagation even on the internet...

DMR net answer: Yes, fox hunting is one of the favorite things. There's a moveable on demand hunt hear around Phoenix.  I feel there'll be a doppler antenna system in my future...

Sorry to jump in and speed report, but DMR booted me out a time or two.

Today I received a nice surprise on the front porch -- my Ozarkcon prize arrived. I was the lucky winner of a Sotabeams drive-on car stand for masts. As it happens, I've been building up a "park activation kit" (WWFF and POTA), and this will be a welcome centerpiece of the gear I'll be using. Once the snow melts ;-)

Special thanks to Ed WG5F for pulling off the heroic task of packaging and mailing nearly a HUNDRED packages to winners of the drawings. And thanks as well to all of the 4SQRP Ozarkcon team for the super event!

Re: Prizes from OZARKCON 2021

Ed Meyer, WG5F

UPDATE:
Many of you have received your prizes which were shipped directly from 4SQRP kitters, and individual donors.
Thanks to all the 4SQRP'ers who took care of those shipments!

I just dropped off 87 packages, bubble mailers, boxes, etc at the Tulsa OK post office.
If you won a door prize that I'm shipping to you, you should start seeing notifications that you have a package on the way.
A few emails went out on Saturday regarding this Monday shipment, but the rest were suppressed until Monday evening...
So, we'll see how fast USPS is able to process that buggy full of mailings.
In case you don't see any status on your tracking number for a day or two... keep these FAQ's in minds:

Keep in mind that USPS can often take up to 24 hours to update tracking statuses. There are a few reasons why your package status may not be updated right away:

  • If you drop your package off after hours, USPS won't scan it in until the next day (this is not the case for the 4SQRP packages)
  • It's in queue at a USPS facility
  • The postal workers scanning packages simply didn't get to it that day
  • Due to record-breaking volume, we’re also seeing a lot more instances where local Post Offices ship packages out without scanning them initially. In most of these cases, it’ll take a couple of days for the first scan to show up and mark the package as “In Transit"
So, it might be a few days - but pretty soon almost all prizes have now been dispatched.
I have two or three prizes with addresses that were rejected and I'll reach out to those QRP'ers ASAP for updated information.
I also need to get the DX Engineering gift certificates in the mail - they sent us physical certificates, so I'll forward those via USPS.
This has been a learning adventure...
By the way - it took me an extra week to get the mailing done as I could not order mailing labels and #0 bubble envelopes from Office Depot or Staples for same day pick up.  So I figured, ok, Amazon prime says they deliver next day, and they were considerably less expensive.   IT TOOK AMAZON 4 DAYS TO DELIVIVER!!!! Ugh.
So - the first time I had the chance to work on this was this weekend.
I really am sorry it's taking so long.
I know you guys all know what problems the pandemic has foisted upon us, but I didn't see this on coming.
(Really, no labels and #0 bubble envelopes at Office Depot/Staples?  Really?)
Y'all enjoy your prizes !

OzarkCon 2021

Mike - WA0ZOG

I'm going to take a quick moment to say thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put on the event and the individual sessions.

Everything was really nicely laid out and well done, and the content was very well thought out.

I was also very shocked to win the Cric-Key, and it was shipped quickly after the event was over.

To me, this just shows the quality of the group and the folks that volunteer to keep it going.

It's really nice to see a group of this size working this hard to put out such excellent kits and conferences, and it makes me glad to be a part of it in any way I can.  Thanks again!

Mike, WA0ZOG

How are you making these?  Are these decals applied or getting them made in such a way as to be dishwasher safe?   I might be interested in buying one with my London Calling or BJ agent Certificate on the back side.

The 15oz custom mug won by K3YQU, John is done and ready to ship.
Stay tuned next year for another chance to win a custom mug at Ozarkcon.

I also figured I should build one for myself commemorating my first "London Calling" event.

2021 Sasquatch Stomp Scores Posted

Wayne McFee

Hello All,

We have posted the 2021 Sasquatch Stomp scores in a pdf file on the Sasquatch Stomp page here:

https://sites.google.com/site/pnwqrpgroup/sasquatch-stomp

This year’s top scorer was Bill, WA7NCL, with a score of  -374,115 points.  Congratulations, Bill.  Mark, K7NEW came in second and Jack, W7LD came in third.

Numbers were definitely down this year, both in terms of contacts made and the number of score sheets turned in.  Having the sunspots totally disappear on the day of the event was no doubt a factor in that.  We will hope that conditions improve by next time, and they should.

A big thank you to everyone who participated.  A special mention for John, AL7JK, who listened carefully up in AK, but had no contacts.  Thanks for being there, John.

73,

Wayne  NB6M

Thank you for IC-705!

AG4CC

My grand prize arrived late Friday, and I haven’t stopped playing with it.

Thanks again to the club for providing this fantastic surprise, and to Ron AG1P for the excellent shipping job.

I will be in the Run for the Bacon tomorrow so look for me on 40m trying to avoid contest and SST activity. If you haven’t tried this Flying Pigs event, or it’s been a while, give it a go.
