I did some more testing tonight.  After getting a good green I dialed it in a little more with a meter and the tuner on out.  I switched it back to in and the red was even dimmer.  I practiced this quite a while and got pretty good at getting things right.  This posting was helpful.

The tuner really is amazing.  I tuned my resonate 20 meter wire to 40 and 80.  I did some ft8 at 1 and 5 watts with great results.

Thanks for the input.  Bryan KJ7PRS

I don't have issues with Green going full bright.  Just red going out.  I believe that was what W3BNO was experiencing as well.

Hi Bob, this should work well. Pse let us know if the green led goes to full  brightness when the red led extinguishes when matched to a dummy load.

Tnx much.

Greetings,

I did a search and did not come up with the results I was looking for on this topic.

Was there a final solution/fix for both LED's on the tuner being at full brightness when the antenna is tuned?  I remember something to do with putting in a POT?  Was that the answer?  If so, can I get the information on that?

I enjoy the tuner and use it regularly.   Stay safe, Bryan KJ7PRS

Karen, thanks for the QNI last night.  As for protocol...well, Johnny has a better grip on that than do I.  Last night I did not hear anyone calling or picking up the net so I grabbed it and ran.with it.

The 4S net is what I consider a "comfortable" net, ie no ridged format.  Usually only a handful of check-ins; those providing RST and maybe a bit more from time to time.  I see it as a place/time to practice CW, follow minimum protocol, and a  place to acknowledge regular and new check-ins.  COMFORTABLE being a key word. hi hi

If you're looking for protocol try the Tennessee State CW Net.3.562 Mhz, 1900 local M-S. It is a NTS net with protocol.   For more info on Tennessee nets:  Home (tnarrl.org)

Again thanks for the QNI last evening...and I wonder if you were using the new IC-705???

Re: Wednesday night CW Nets

There is little in the way of protocol.  It would be a more orderly proceeding if there were.

Wayne, NQØRP, was the NCS several years ago.  I proposed a protocol that he adopted and it worked well, with a procedure that started with the CQ, announced the name and brief description of the net.  These were followed by QNI?, acknowledgement to the callers, ONE BY ONE; then for each a PSE AS, an insert of QSP when appropriate, and finally the net closing.

Basically this protocol initially established as complete a list of the QNIs as possible.  And ONLY THEN were the QNIs, one by one, invited to transmit.

The New England QRP Net meets Thursdays at 8:30 ET on 3,566 kHz.  NCS Chuck, K1CL, follows it. The net runs smoothly.

A couple of years ago I sent the procedure previously supplied to NQØRP to Johnny, ACØBQ, but thus far he has not used any parts of it.

Charles (aka Chas), W2SH

Spare parts for Cricket 40?

Mark Sunderlin

I'm building a Cricket 40 I ordered a while ago and ... I messed up.   I got C5 mixed up with C10, as I misread the '181' as 101.  When I tried to de-solder C5, I ended up destroying it.

On Saturday, I emailed Ray, N5SEZ, asking if there would be some way I could purchase a replacement C5 (100p, with 0.2" spacing) and a replacement C10 (180p), bit he has not responded yet.

Am I just being to impatient ... or is Ray offline for a while?

Thanks to all involved in the Ozarkcon Zoom event.  It was super.

Also, just received a nice prize from that event - Kits for Kids LED Blinker.  I will pass this along to a young fella who is interested in electronics/radio. He's almost 6 years old and somewhat of a child prodigy.

I enjoy the 4S Group activities and greatly appreciate all that is accomplished in that name for AR.
