Just printed the first one of several BNC covers. Nice and it fit perfectly right off the bat. I have several places these will come in very handy.

I can also now confirm that

is a nicely fitting BNC connector cap to 3D print
Have three of them on the K2 now

Thanks for posting that, Jim.
I just printed a couple of them, and can confirm it fits the 4 pin mic jack, as well as the 8-pins on my K2 and TS-430S, and of course, the SO-239.

I found a BNC cap on Thingiverse, will report back after I print one to try out.

3D Printed SO-239 & 8 Pin Kenwood style Mic Jack Cover

Jim Sheldon

For those who operate 99.9 percent CW and don't even keep a microphone connected to their rig and whose rigs use the Kenwood style 8 pin microphone connector (I think it fits the 4 pin type as well but don't have one here to test it), I found a really nice looking SO-239 cover design for 3D printing on Thingiverse.com. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4854560

It just so happens to fit the threads on the 8 pin microphone jack used on my Elecraft K3, and many other radios.  I believe it may also fit the 4 pin connectors as well as they seem to have the same outer threads which match those of a PL-259 coax connector shell.  With the proliferation of 3D printers in many ham workshops these days, if you don't have one, it should be relatively easy to find someone who has.

Bruce, KE0VR, FWIW I heard you calling CQ earlier tonight on the 4S SS event on/about 7.122 Mhz. I called you several times but no response.  You were 329 here in NW TN.

Re: Iceland  you may wish to contact Villi, TF3DX, at villik@... for info about operating QRP in Iceland.  I worked him a few days ago on 14.063 CW. He was running 2 watts.

I plan to be in Iceland in June.  I will be taking my KX2.  I will set up a schedule of when I will be on and what frequencies, and will send it on this group.
I would like to determine the best uncrowded frequencies and best times for QRP on 40 and 20.  Any suggestions?
I may try a counterpoise draped into seawater.

Griff,

I listened for you but no luck.  I checked on the RBN and saw where you were and listened again for some time as you would bounce between 7113.2 and 7120.1.

The interesting part is that your BJ DOES NOT seem to drift as several skimmers reported you at the very same freq. and over the whole afternoon.

Not too much action on 40m today.

The rev 1.45 (2021) Soup'er Up'er will work just fine across all flavors
of the Bayou Jumper.

If you plan to use a S.U. with the original (White Face) Bayou Jumper,
build the S.U. per the the latest instructions and use D23, not a jumper
wire.

Then install the Soup'er Up'er according to the older S.U. manual, and
you will need to use the drilling instruction (template) on the original
B.J.

As instructed in the rev 1.45 S.U. use 33k for R36 as defined in the rev
1.45 build manual.

Enjoy your kit and have fun with the Bayou Jumper.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me direct.
Thanks very much - that really clears up all my questions.
