Re: WA0MWW Shop Sale and Brutus Tailgate
I wonder how his HW-5400 works. The one I had in the '80s was deaf as a
stump above 20m, and not even so good there. It was a happy day when it arrived and I could start building it and it was a happy day when it left after trading it for an Explorer 14 yagi. The yagi was certainly not deaf! 72, de Nate >> P.S. No, I am not interested in buying it! -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. WA0MWW Shop Sale and Brutus Tailgate
WA0ITP
I've posted a list of WA0MWW's sale items on my web site
http://www.wa0itp.com/rons%20stuff.pdf Ron was a FB hombrewer and a Heathkit fan, and the list reflects that. If you are going to Brutus and see something you'd like to buy, or want to see it close up, pse let me know and I'll try bring it along next weekend, depending on the available room in the old Tahoe. After Brutus, sales will be opened to all Four Staters, then to the local club, and finally to the QRP-L list. ---------------------------------- Real radios weigh less than a pound. The annual Route 66 special event is next week, Sep 7 thru Sep 15th. This is a
nice match with the Brutus outing as Route 66 passed close by and there is a special event station, W6N, in Joplin. For more info on the event check here http://www.w6jbt.org/2013site/52/ It will be fun to work them from home as well as from Brutus. ---------------------------------- Real radios weigh less than a pound. Shack Closings. There are so many reasons why some hang it up and some keep keying. Health is a driving factor, and with the economy we now have an added factor. New rigs are expensive and monthly drug pills for some of us can dig into it too. One of my old buddies passed on two years ago, we go back to high school, and I had to spend one of my days in Kauai Hawaii early this year cleaning out this rigs and equipment in the condo. I was happy to do it for his spouse. Most of the stuff went back 20 years; he had not been active in the last ten. I do believe that friendships last longer than shacks so it is good of you Terry to give him a hand. Unc Phil

Anyone interested in older QRP radios? I have an Argosy and an FT-7 that I could bring along if there is interest. Sorry Terry - they do weigh more than a pound. Will bring some no longer used bits and pieces like QRPometer, tennadipper and MTR. I find that I use my WM-2 more than the QRPometer and I now have the *deluxe* tennadipper. The MTR is a neat little radio but I have since acquired a KX-1 and find that I prefer a knob to the buttons for tuning. Just called in for reservations - no rv spots but they will take me as primitive. Doesn't that have a nice ring to it? "I'm a primitive..." :-P Actually I'm a "Ham in Egg". I'll bet Terry knows what that means. Looking forward to the weekend, ray W0PFO --

Re: yahoo groups problems
Things have gotten much better (?) since yesterday morning. Some of
the features and functions that owners use weren't there or didn't work.
They all do now.
Conversations is the term GMail uses for messages, It's different but it works. Check out the options in the menu bars and banners along the top banners under the picture. That's also where the message shows up when there are requests for approval to join. Group owners and moderators can change the picture. Mouse over the picture of hats and a box shows up on the right side to let you do that. Check the picture I added to the QRPme kits Also the QRP-Tech group and the HFPack group. Everything seems to be there now just in different places and you need to fish around with the menus and options. At 08:44 PM 9/4/2013, WA0ITP wrote: Yeah it's a mess. Click on the "Conversations" for the messages. Makes no sense to me either. Chuck Carpenter, W5USJ

I appreciate that.. that's a very nice offer. What I should do.. if I only could... is gather a truck load of stuff for you to haul down for me. But no, don't worry, I wouldn't do that to you. But it looks to me that this just might be the way to let a lot of this get used by others. Or.. Brutus might have stuff to munch on all winter long. Thank you..
