Gang,

Is there any reason why the QRPometer should not be modified to be
able to read power connected to a DL or to a matched antenna or
antenna via a tuner?

Essentially the change would be to switch the "unknown" leg of the
bridge from the DL to the antenna out jack.

Schematically a single DPDT switch would connect to DL or
antenna. I've drawn a schematic showing the circuit changes if
anyone would like to see the option.

Hi Kelly,

It sounds good to me. I will try to make it there. I may have to try to bumm a ride with Joe K0NEB, as i think my ride might have something going on. I will copy this email to Joe and also see if I can catch him
in the morning.

I hope to see you there! ( If I can get set up with Joe!)

Arnie and group.  We are in Lebanon now.  I might be around for lunch but probably won't stay around later than that. Can I suggest the waffle house about 11 ish? Will that work for any QRPers? Let us know what you think....

Hi Brad,

Well, there has not been a great number of the group who indicate they will be going.  And
even less who are going to be staying for the whole day on Saturday.

I had thought about seeing if there would be interest for an informal dinner gathering at some local diner after the
drawing, but that don't look like there would be a lot of interest in that, as most are leaving
to head home right after the drawing, or even before the drawing.

. Mike NF0N and I are staying the night and leaving in the morning as its about a 7 hour drive for me, and Mike has another hour and 1/2 to get home after leaves my place..

Another thought would be the lunch time frame.

So, I thought I would put out feelers to see if there would be interest in that.. maybe a
couple of blocks from the convention site, at the Dairy Queen or one of the others in the
local area.. ???   Anyone interested? Please post!  Maybe we can still get something organized.

Anyhow..  I'll be walking around wearing a red ball cap with my call on it.. so if you see me,  stop and say "HI"..

Re: QRPometer Fixer-Upper Info Needed

Rich Fowler <k8meg@...>

Hello Chuck,
My recommendation is to go to the photo section on the QRPometer site and compare the board you have with the photos. You can blow up the online photo by Ctrl + or Ctrl forward scroll on mouse.

There were no PCB revisions other than document changes. The units on the website were prototypes (beta) and the only change that I know about is the 4.7K 5% was later changed to 4.75K 1%. No components were mounted vertically.

Do you have 5V? The biggest problem that I have seen is cold solder. Using lead-free. I know your expertise and I would suggest following your instincts. :-) After verifying component placement, clean the board. Look for obvious things like components installed in wrong vias, diodes backwards, Switch soldering is an issue because of coatings on the solder lugs.

Let me know if meter is displayed. If so, give me the behavior. I have resurrected a few of these kits and it's a great learning experience.

Rich K8MEG

QRPometer Fixer-Upper Info Needed

Chuck Carpenter

4SQRPers,

Acquired the subject unit built but not working. Mostly I need troubleshooting help, I think... :-)

There is no indication showing which version it might be other than the location of one resistor.

That appears to be R42 which is horizontal in the current parts layout and vertical on the board that I have.

The current docs also say don't install various resistors until the calibration is completed?

So what course of action do I have to get the meter working?

All help greatly appreciated.

Terry,

I have added a new frequency to the list, 10.110 MHz.

I now have 36 different frequencies in HC49 and 13 frequencies in the tiny Cylindrical crystals.

The HC49 frequencies in kHz are: 1856, 3530, 3535, 3550, 3560, 3575.611, 3579.545, 3880(series resonance), 3885(series resonance), 7015, 7030, 7035, 7040, 7042, 7050, 7055, 7058, 7114(series resonance), 7122, 7200, 10106, 10110, 10116, 10125, 10140, 10700, 14033(series resonance), 14050, 14058, 14060, 14200, 18096, 21060, 24906, 28030(series resonance), 28060.
The HC49 specs are +/- 100ppm, 0/70C, 18pf. The 3880, 3885, 7114, 14033, and 28030 HC49 specs are series resonance, +/- 100ppm, 0/70C. NOTE: The 14060 is now offered in both HC49U(standard height) and HC49US (short). The 7015, 7122, 10116, 10140, 14050, and 28030 are an HC49US package which is shorter in height than the HC49U but with the same pin spacing and specs.

The Cylindrical frequencies are: 3560, 7030, 7040, 7042, 7190, 10106, 10125, 14060, 14200, 18096, 21026, 21060, 24906 kHz. The crystals are cylindrical type +/-100 PPM, 18pF, 3x8 mm. The 3560 crystal is a bit longer at 3x10 mm.

Thank you for all of the support the 4SQRP group has given me.  I get lots of orders from members and supporters of your products.

RMRc 2300z 14.0625 today

Dale Putnam

That makes it 4pm MT... so you all can come... and hear my new antenna, finally got the doggone thing up... well.. at least a third of it.
But it will work just fine as it is for now.. until I get the next 500 foot hunk of wire up, for the next section.
Lets talk about a possible 80m net too? k? We all got overstuffed last net, with all the food discussion. (I really liked that one)
I'll be testing my antenna, too.
I'll have a write up for it, after I get some empirical proof it is working like the puter says it will.
There are some cool fringe benefits for this too.. It can be trained to shed the ice buildup and snow collection too.
  C U this afternoon.

Have a great day,
