Re: Digikey Schematic Drawing Program
Jerry Haigwood <jerry@...>
Hi John and Terry,
Several companies making
PCBs will accept the files from ExpressPCB (Futurlec.com, Far Circuits,
etc.). Also, you can convert the ExpressPCB files to Gerber files using a
program called Copper Connection. Almost all board houses will accept
Gerber files.

Thanks for the heads-up Chuck, I did a quick calculation and it is WAAAAY cheaper than ExpressPCB for production.
I guess I can use some of my "downtime" to get some board designs finished. 72/3 es God Bless de Wayne - KC0PMH

Re: Digikey Schematic Drawing Program
And if you design the board with ExpressPCB software, you can then use the files with Futurlec and get even a single board made for less money.
I try to label the PCBs with enough text info etched on the top layer so you can skip the silk screen and solder mask and still know where everythng goes. Futurlec's PCB operation will let you use pretty much any software design program you might be using. Just learned about Futurlec this morning... 8-) http://www.futurlec.com/PCBService.shtml Chuck Carpenter, W5USJ EM22cv, Rains Co. TX

go to Expresspcb.com and you can download similar free software. They have express_sch and express_pcb. Both are very similar to each other in operation, except one makes schematics and the other makes PCB patterns. While it doesn't give you digi-key part numbers, it does print out a bill of materials. Also, once you design it, you can order the PCB from them (not free). Another feature is you can link a schematic to your PCB design. While designing the PCB, when you click a pin on a part, it highlights all the other parts/pins that pin is supposed to connect to. One advantage of the DIgikey software is, being web-based, it works with Linux as well as Windows. The Express software only works on Windows. We're expecting a houseful of company tomorrow, so all my hobby stuff is temporarily put away. It will come out again on Thursday. Happy holidays, everyone! John AA0VE

Digikey Schematic Drawing Program

This is being discussed on EMRFD and it seems amazing to me. Draw your
schematic and the program fills in the part numbers and creates a Digikey project and order at the same time. Maybe we can all throw out our call signs Tuesday snd Wednesday am and see who is listening! Several years ago, I had a low G5 which i fed with qro, ( remember those days?) from a 520.
It had more than a quarter inch of ice on it and i decided to De ice it with a long stick. Needless to say it separated and crashed to the ground. My advice is, if its in the air after the storm, leave it alone.
Merry Christmas all! Johnny AC0BQ

Luckily Christmas is supposed to be around 40F here so I hope to get some ice melted off my antennas. My random wire was hanging low this weekend.

Re: Frequency adjustment on a simple cw transmitter
James Compton
Chuck, Thanks! That's exactly the information I needed. I ordered some of the polivaricon capacitor kits from Rex Harper at qrpme.com about a month ago, but he's been busy assembling kits for the Rockmite II and fighting snow on his farm near Limerick, ME so has been a little slow filling orders. I was certain someone in 4SQRP would know the answer to this question, since your net is on 7122 and getting the frequency nailed with homebrew rigs and purchased kits has to take some tweaking. Thanks, again and Merry Christmas! Jim Compton, K4JDC -----Original Message-----

Re: Frequency adjustment on a simple cw transmitter
Jim,
The lower frequency is typical of the Rock-mights too. In most circuits with parallel resonant crystals, a series capacitor/trimmer will raise the frequency. An inductor in series will lower the frequency. Series resonant crystals such as the 7114s from ESS will be higher than the marked frequecy. A combination of trimmer and inductor in series can be arranged to both raise and lower the frqeuency. There are examples of such circuits in the W1FB's QRP Notebooks and in EMRFD.
