Anyone have an FT-243 80 or 40M crystal I can borrow? 3560 or close would be
perfect. I will double into 7120 in the 16 and maybe I could work a few Four
Staters up there. The 16 is an interesting design, and one of the coolest of the
old Heatkit rigs imho. I used one during a field day in a former life. It was
the first QSK rig I had seen, and a new world opened up for a new ham from SEIA.
Man, that was loong time ago.

Terry,
Look for FT-243 on eBay.  There are a bunch of them available there and some of them are priced right.  You might find a 3560 there or at least something on 40 that would be close.  I didn't go through the whole bunch the other day when I was trying to find one to use in an old Knight T-60 a friend has.

It's a hurried edition but we shall have more pictures next month, since time was really short.

Great seeing everyone this weekend and OzarkCon still gets me sparked up for running portable ops.

This is the April edition so along the last pages of the Banner may be of interest!

practice nets to be QRO... we can do this.

Come talk about the new snowfall, the garden, fav recipes, or kids..
we'll try hard to steer way over politcs... as that would be.. way below

Let's practice together...

Just a short "Day Trip" huh.
Just be glad you don't have to do that one or more times weekly just to see a Doctor.

Where I lived in Arizona to most specialists was a 250 to 280 mile one way trip.
Made for very long days when you didn't feel good to start with from 5280 ft. to 7200 ft. down to 3200 ft. up to 5000 ft. down to 1200 ft. and back all in one day was a pita!

WA6CML and I arrived back in beautiful Iola about 2pm this afternoon.  We both had a blast at Ozarkcon this year!  The presentations were really good this year – I particularly enjoyed Max’s presentation.  Robin enjoyed the knitting lessons, and getting to meet all the wives.  Terry’s ovation at the end was well-deserved, considering all he does for the group.  Was great to visit with old friends, meet new friends, and just share in the fellowship of this great hobby we all enjoy.  Already looking forward to Brutus in August, and Ozarkcon 2015!  Good job to all who were involved!

It was another GREAT Ozarkcon!  Thanks to EVERYBODY who made this weekend possible.  I hooked up my Ozark Patrol at home and it works!  Well done goes out to NM0S for a great and fun kit.  I might be at the Des Moines hamfest in 2 weeks and see you all at FDIM for another great Buildathon!

Thank you to all the people that make this extravaganza possible.

See you there next year.

I'm considering foregoing Hamvention one of these years and attending Ozarkcon.  Living in Utah, I can only afford one major event a year, and it looks like Ozarkcon might just reignite that spark in ham radio I've been missing for so many years.  It looks as though the drive could be done comfortably in 2 days from Salt Lake City.  Driving to Dayton isn't too realistic, though I do despise air travel enough to almost attempt it.

For now, I have my Hamvention ticket and air travel for another year.  Lots of good friends that I see every year at Hamvention.  Phil and Pat are dear friends as well, however, and won't be in Dayton this year!  :-(

Re: Home from Ozarkcon

Hey Tom!

I ran into Jeanette one of the times she was asking about it at the front desk, am sure glad to hear she found it!

I have a suggestion – Robin and I ran into this type of thing not long ago – since we got our Android phones, we have had a program called “Lookout” installed on our phones – One of the features of it is, you can log onto the Lookout website and see the coordinates from where the phone last reported in.  Also, you can signal the phone to make a very loud siren noise, EVEN if the ringtone is on silent.  I did look, and there is a version of it for I-Phone too.  The app is free (they have a paid version that gives you a few more features, but the ones I mention are totally free) and I think it’s worth it just for the added peace of mind!

Just some food for thought!

Enjoyed yet another Ozarkcon this year. The kids had fun in Branson,
especially playing mini golf and shopping with Mommy.

I for one was glad to find a new toy at the swap tables, an MFJ 15 meter
QRP rig.

Special thanks to Bart W0IIT for giving me a ride to Walmart to buy a
gas can and then to a gas station this morning so we could get the van
started. Apparently when the fuel gauge says 1/8th tank and parked on
an incline it's still possible to run out of gas. Bart is a real ham's ham.

And that after my wife lost her cell phone, which finally was found by
hotel staff. I'll remind her to never leave it on silent again.

If anything, this was not an uneventful Ozarkcon.

Just got back home a short while ago, and wanted to tell the group how much I enjoyed seeing
the folks that were there. This was my first time for OzarkCon, and was one of the most
enjoyable events for me in a while.

Thanks to the team for all the work they put into in and hope to be able kto be there next year.

W0EB & W0JMS are safely home and the rigs are unloaded and re-connected back on the desk - everything works as it did before I brought them to show off at the "Con".  Fantastic gathering again and IMHO, even bigger/better than last year - hats off to all the hard workers behind the scenes that made it possible.

Definitely looking forward to next year.
