Enjoy your retirement.  Before too long you will be wondering how and when did you have time to work.

Enjoy,

Thanks Rick,
I like your illustrations better than what I found from my Google search which was from ARRL's Low Power Communication book. Do not know which edition it was from. Thanks again. Jim, NV9X

Re: 80/40 Antenna Help

Rick Bennett

I posted a file that was from N0SS (SK) on the Yahoo files called the "2 & 3 Band Dipole...".  I have built quite a few antennas using this basic design.  Interesting enough we use these for our field day operations for our local club which we just took down a few hours ago :-).

Just for fun, we ran some sweeps on 2 of these antennas before we took them down.  I have access to a RigExpert antenna analyzer (nice piece of equipment BTW) and it does SWR sweeps and a basic TDR function.

The 80 meter SWR is pretty good, something like 1.7:1.  The 40 meter SWR was just above 2:1  The 20 meter SWR was above 3:1.  These antennas seem to work well, but you will probably need an antenna tuner.  I guess with the parallel wires so close together it affects the ability to get a good match on the shorter wires.

WC7S Field Day fun!!

Dale Putnam

Had just 6.25 hours to play, so I didn't have the luxury to pick the times.. I just operated when I coul
With these results:
7mc   31Q
14mc 45Q
21mc 42Q
28mc   9Q
Total 127Q
operating from a battery and solar power... it was a kick to do this all without the help of big power from "the company"....
Got to see some old friends.. missed some others... wish I could have made it will all...

The props were completely off the wall, nothing on 160m and very little 10m.. not a run to be seen, but most Qs were answered on the
first or second call.  I reworked the feedline for the BowTie, and now it looks like I need to get another one up before winter.
The vertical was sometimes 9 S unites better than the BowTie, other times the BowTie was 9 units plus better than the vert.
Found ND, SD, on a whim.. thanks guys. And thanks to all that made this so much fun, for an exercise in readiness, it was fun, for sure.

Have a great day,

Hi All,

Chances are some FD site pictures were taken this weekend. If so, how about sharing the set up with the Ozark QRP Banner readers.

July edition is near completion but any pictures can be savored in our August publication.

Send pictures and text to me at:

ozarkqrpbanner@...

It helps if the subject could include FD pictures :-)

72, hope everyone had a good FD!

FD 2014 & SS40 build

yahoomail@...

We stayed close to home this year for Field Day.  1B OK.
91 QSO, 48 Sections.
I took several hours off on Saturday afternoon to help Karen (W5KKM) finish her SS 40 receiver.
It works like a champ!  I'm really impressed by the build and the receiver.  She did a great job.
Actually it was a nice day to finish the SS40 as we had hundreds of stations to listen to on the low end of 40.
I can't wait to get on to the transmitter strip.  Maybe she'll let me build some of that (?)

You are exactly right... Prayers work..   Other than the minor stuff... we're fine..
and it won't take too long to be back on track... the house real didn't need painting again.. but then..
one more won't hurt..........much. ;-)

Maybe winter will be nicer ...   one can always hope.. but in the meantime.. I'm gathering fire wood...

Have a great day,

Dale,

Sorry for your run of luck; if it weren't for bad luck, you wouldn't have had any luck at all!  But - very thankful that you came through it all unscathed.  Things can be replaced; people can't.

Whew! That was close...

Dale Putnam

Yesterday afternoon, we had a close call with a large (to us) funnel cloud, form 25 mi west of my house, it stayed formed up,
and active for over half hour.. as it traveled East at 20 mph. Never reached the ground.. or Cheyenne, it must have gotten dizzy,
it faded away... The large rotation.. 10 - 20 mi in diameter, continued east and passed overhead a mile North of me. No hail, a brief
trace of rain.
I'm still finding damage, probably will for quite a while.... but the good thing is.. we are all fine.. my feedline seems to be fine after
getting wind-messed with.
Thank God, for keeping us safe,

Keep an eye to the sky these days...

oh.. and as an aside.... the last time we had tormados that close to Cheyenne, the winter following was a not nice one....
I think I'll go cut firewood.....

Have a great day,
