First thing I heard was ON6FT on the low end of 40 but couldn't snag him.

Then I hear Eric, AC8LJ, in Charleston WV, calling CQ around 7.033 and he came back with a 449.

We had some deep QSB and a couple of others started calling CQ on top of us, but Eric stayed with me.

QRZ.com says this is just under 800 miles (@ 4 watts.)

So I'm declaring this a success!

I'll still need to add labeling - but otherwise, this one is ready for the field!

Send in your score

John Lonigro

It's Monday. If you didn't participate in the SSS last night, your next chance won't be until November (No SSS in October). The slate will be cleared for the November sprint - everyone starts with 0 QSO's. The 4x4 Sprint is in early October.

If you DID participate in the SSS last night, don't forget to send in your results so I can tally them. You've got until midnight tomorrow (Tuesday) night to get them in. This is your only reminder to send in your score. Send an email with your results to:

SecondSundaySprint@4SQRP.com

Put "Sprint" in the subject line.

Don't "reply" with your results. This is my everyday email. I have a special one set up for sprints.

Final results for the 2013-14 SSS should be posted around Wednesday, with the final winners announced for the 2013-14 season.

Thanks and 72,

John, AA0VE
SSS Coordinator

QRM Woes for Fun

I was off and running right at the start bell.....that lasted about two
minutes....
I normally have SA Phone traffic on 7.122 but can filter it out. Tonight
was no such animal.
It was really splattering from 7.121 to 7.124. I dropped down to 7.120 but
didn't get any bites.
Moved up to 20 and made one contact. Then it was back to 40 for a few. the
F2RTO was QRS 5 and I stopped to make a contact with Roni. Then found it is
a call not listed on QRZ?
I tried 80 and heard nothing but from 4s but did find Tucker (local youth
kk4unz) operating as w1aw/4 and worked him. After that it was all QRM. It
was still fun since I haven't had a chance to play in the SSS for a while.

Use the "Member Map" button on the 4SQRP web site and give Ray an

Also, the Operator List button was edited to read "Member List" now.

I'm not a SK (yet!).
My call - KK0S - is a recycled call that I've had now for several years.
On the map my location is correct and the call is correct, but the name shown and QTH shown is for the previous license holder who has been SK for a good number of years, now.
Thanks for the good work - I really like the concept.

SSS Tomorrow night!

DON'T FORGET!!!

Despite the fact that last Sunday was the 2nd Sunday of the month, the "Second" Sunday Sprint is tomorrow, 7:00 - 9:00 PM CDT. If you've misplaced the rules, they are posted on 4SQRP.COM, under "4SQRP On Air Activities". And they haven't changed lately.

Good luck in the contest!

Re: 4SQRP Member Map

Personally I don't see adding the member # to the map as being of any particular value.

If you made contact with someone you would know their callsign and it would take forever to find them on the map knowing only their callsign.

A quicker lookup would be using the Member List which DOES give their member number when you mouse over their callsign.

Re: 4SQRP Member Map

Hi,

I don't think FCC licenses Amateur Station licenses to PO boxes. They want to know the physical location where the station (and the licensee) is (with allowances for mobile and portable operation). In my own case the street address AND the PO Box are given. The FCC also uses both addresses so they can mail me my new license every ten years AND my notices of violation <evil grin>. If you send mail to my street address it won't be delivered because USPS doesn't deliver the mail here - except to that box at the Post office. On the other hand when you come to lunch at my home you will need the street address :) The fact is that mail addressed to my home probably will be put in my PO Box because it's a small place and the Postmistress *knows* who everybody is and uses "common sense". However..she gets vacation and comp time off and the substitute may NOT know everybody.

Good job on the map!

Bill KU8H

The problem is that the geocoder I used apparently wanted real street addresses. Your records show only a PO Box. When I get a chance I'll see if I can get some approximations based on
zip code but won't promise results until I can do some testing. In any case, it won't be totally accurate.

The note at the top of the page tries to warn you... Of 800+ members I was able to resolve addresses on only a little over 700.
