I need one...not a whine, but when I got back from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston  on Wed, I know that I have a few years left...the only amateur radio goal (for me) is to do decent CW...I only know how to use an old straight key (from Boy Scout days)...I figure that QRP CW is the best route for me...I have a great LDG Z-100 Pro tuner that will make wire sing.  I'm selling my Yaesu 817ND (and some other stuff) and will only do QRP and 2M  from our RV...I will be happy to pay someone to build a kit for me, or suggest another pre-built QRP rig....Blessings to all...Doc

Some time I'd like to camp with some 4SQRP'ers at Twin Bridges State Park like we used to years ago.  I know that's an awful far drive for you, though, Terry.

Ozark Patrol Temporarily Sold Out

Donald Kelly

This looks like a nice kit. I built the Radio Shack Globe Patrol many years ago. It was a gift for my brother who passed away before building.

http://www.qsl.net/kc6vdx/gear/globe.html

It was battery powered and I used to bring it to bed and listen. Being simple design it suffered from a few things like hand capacitance and rapid tuning.

But I loved it and suffered for many years after I loaned it to a fellow ham being sent TDY to Spain. I never saw him again (before Internet).

This looks like a great project for anyone. Everyone should build at least one regenerative receiver. Even if he or she is not a ham.

From the web page.

Wow! The first run has sold out after only 36 hours. Parts for the next run are already on order. We expect to be shipping again in 2-3 weeks. Order if you wish, but please consider the delay in receiving your kit.
Many thanks for the excellent response to the Ozark Patrol.

I just posted this note on the web page.  Great start for a great kit.

Also uploaded a picture of the front panel to both the Yahoo Group's photos and also to the kit's photo page.  http://www.4sqrp.com/kits/ozarkpatrol/ozarkpatrol_photopage.html  Sri for the confusion between the beta build units and the production run.

Gary:

I've got Three (3) answers for you:

1) I tried to mimic the rules used in the 2013 4x4 sprint, which included SPC in the exchange.

2) I think a lot of people would like to know it if they had a QSO with someone across the country, as opposed to across the state (without bothering to look it up in QRZ.com).

3) If you are working toward WAS-QRP, it might be very important to you (again, without having to stop and look it up in QRZ).

No idea about the meaning of life.  Sorry, you'll have to find out for yourself.

Sorry about the 5 Watt limit.  Maybe we need a sister club: 4SQRO.

Hello,

Wasn't able to check into the early net - somebody forgot to attach the
antenna to the QRP transmitter! I did work W5XE in El Paso tonight at 3
Watts
on 7122.

On the second net, I was running A measured 500 milliWatts output. I tried
the
W1AW/5 New Mexico pileup, but just not enough steam. Thanks to all of you who
indulge me as I play with QRPp ( one Watt or less output ). When we get a
good
cold crystal clear night ( no QRN ) I'm gonna try for some DX on the low end
of the band.

I always look forward to Wednesday nights for these nets.
