I heard you on 7122 at 8:20 this morning, but I had some noise to contend with and figured I wouldn't be able to copy anything other than your call (which I already know).  But you were sort of making it here in Kirkwood, MO.

I checked 14060 at 8:35 and heard nothing.

Tom;
The eBay tuner arrived yesterday - much sooner than I expected.
Here's the auction I closed on:
New 1 - 30 Mhz QRP Manual Days Antenna Tuner Tune DIY Kit For Ham Radio

It's a VERY cryptic purchase, but if all the parts are there, it's probably worth it.

If we do a 4SQRP tuner, it will be really cool, too.

I've bought a few of these Chinese parts and sub-assemblies from several sources and thus far all have arrived in good shape in a reasonable timer frame.

Sounds like fun.....I'm not sure if I'll be around at the time you're out on the water. I'm off tomorrow and we like to go on our "coffee date" on days we're both off...that timing depends on what time we get up and around in the morning. So......I'll certainly be looking/listening for ya around 8- 8:30 or so if I'm still here at the house.

Have fun!!

Re: Interesting kit.

Chuck Carpenter

Forrest,

Good to hear that the RM][ is alive and well!

Pat KD4OBQ is finishing my RM. He reported an output of 4.68 Vrms.
That would be about 438mW into a 50 Ohm load. What was the DC supply voltage at the board?

Saw the output pictures, very clean envelopes.
The filters do a good job. The P&E mod is even better... :-)

I might get it back this week, next week at the very latest.
Are you interested in a sked when I get set up?
Sure, let me know the day, time and frequency.

Didn't think of that Tom!

I actually ordered a cheap ($14) Chinese tuner kit from eBay, but it probably wont get here for another month.

I figured that would be simple to carry with the SS40.

"We" should offer a simple tuner kit from 4SQRP.

I'll bet we couldn't keep the kits on the shelf.

Hi Chuck!

The output is about 0.2 Vrms compared to the RM at the same point of 2 Vrms.

Forrest,

There really isn't much actually similar to the Rockmites. Seems to
be a conglomeration of several different QRP kits though. I've never
been able to get more than 150mW from the one I built. It uses the
oscillator from the mixer to drive the xmit buffer stage. The output
is about 0.2 Vrms compared to the RM at the same point of 2 Vrms.

You would need to add a low pass filter to meet the FCC spec of
-43dBc for spurious and harmonics.

The muting and sidetone circuit is interesting. I'd save that one
for future reference.

There was considerable discussion on QRP-L but that soon died out
with no resolution to problems as I recall.
