For Sale - PFR-3
Woody Hester
PFR-3 excess to my needs. A shame to sit idle. This is the original, not the "A". Works well on all bands. Appearance is very good and works well. I've even made stateside contacts with it from Oahu! Audio output is known to be a little low on these rigs but using good earbuds, with the volume up, solves the problem. I built half of this rig then, due to 60 hour work weeks, sent it to WC7S who completed build, testing and alignment. It was completed in early 2010. Probably has about 100 QSOs on it. Good old Dale (WC7S) kindly told me he'd "extend his build warranty" on this rig so you can't lose (although it's working great!) $235 shipped / insured anywhere in CONUS. Thanks! / WD9F fghester@... (please respond off list). 72!

ARRL CENTENNIAL QSO PARTY - STILL TIME FOR SOME CONTACTS...
Phil Anderson
Notes on the ARRL Centennial QSO Party Uncle Phil, WØXI No doubt some of you CW ops have heard “CQ CENT DE XX#YYY” on one or more of the bands lately. I’d forgotten what CENT represented so googled it and got “ARRL Centennial QSP Party.” Then I remembered; it’s all about those W1AW/xxx stations on the air since January 1 of 2014. If you did follow them all year, you could have worked All STATES pretty easily. I did make contest-like contacts with a number of then through the year; happy that I did for WAS contacts in 7 land in particular. For more info on the Centennial Party, check it out on the ARRL website. There are still about 15 days left in the year so you can grab some contacts for your log in any one of the legal modes. And the nice thing is that the stations are usually S9 or better, given conditions. In some cases pileups occur and the W1AW/x op works split. That gives you a chance to practice that DX technique. According to the ARRL website page on this, if you are an ARRL member, have worked any of these “CENT” stations, and logged your contact via LoTW, then there will be a log of your contacts on the CENTENNIAL POINTS CHALLENGE LEADER BOARD on the ARRL site for this. To reach this site, connect with the LoTW website using your USER NAME and PASSWORD (for that site) and it lists how many contacts you’ve made and your rank. I was surprised how many W1AW/x stations I’d heard and worked; a titak if 282 year to date! I ranked 10,131 out of 33,438 ops. It’s funny, but each time I heard one of those stations on the air, I tried to make contact, had to wait a few times sometimes due to pileups. Great fun! 73, Phil, WØXI.

Re: Tonight's 40m net report
Sam Neal
Hello,
I managed to work a Kalamazoo Michigan station prior to the net and heard part of the QNI invite from the unknown net control. Maybe next week! 73, Sam Neal N5AF 1 Watt from a 6V6 tube. ___________________________________________ Well not a total bust, Chas - W2SH made it in at a pretty good signal but that was it. Still, even if just one then the effort is worth it. On a personal note, trawling down the lower end of '40 I managed a qso with KD2E which pushed me to my SKCC Tx2 claim. Seems KS to NJ was the conduit this evening! face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you The Lord lift up his contenance upon you and give you peace. God Bless from Wayne Dillon - KC0PMH

Re: Thurs Morn Net [1 Attachment]
W0IIT
GM Terry,
I am getting soooooooo dumb:-( Totally forgot it. David, my cw buddy, had to remove the ground rod and wire and put the screen back on the window in his basement apartment. The qrm/qrn was bad to begin with and removing the gnd did him in completely. So our daily cw sked is kaput. We met on 2 meters simplex(I don’t do repeaters except in dire emergency) to make arrangements and we will now switch to 2 meter CW. Both of us will be running FT-817s using their little rubber ducky antennas. Today I used the little Chinese duel band handie talkie with an extended antenna. I was full quieting with David. The little rig worked like a charm and to my surprise in didn’t get hot. We must of chatted for at least 30 minutes—it felt very strange to be vocalizing my call sign. I am going to try to play in the SSS but every time I make plans to do that something or someone comes up and spoils my attempt. OMG, Bill has such a signal here in the Pitts, I mean LOUD!!!! As the CB crowd used to say, strong as garlic!!! I don’t know if he uses the Alex loop for the net or not. How about his talent at painting? cu es 72, Bart

Thurs Morn Net
WA0ITP
Nice group this morning Darryl was the warmest at 48F and I was the
coldest at 27F. Bill was booming in and signals were quite good
this morning. I see the A index is down from the last coupla days,
that surely helped. The band is noisy here, S5-S7, but copy was no
problem.
Thanks everyone, cu next week. Don't forget the Second Sunday Sprint this weekend, 7 - 9 pm. AA0VE sent out a note this morning with the rules. -- 72 WAØITP I love this radio stuff. Back to the bench, Winter's too valuable to waste. www.wa0itp.com wa0itp@...
