In the past I have picked up various sizes of those small, easily lost suckers from hobby shops that carry parts for remote control cars and planes.

Banner & Monday Sideband net!
Jeremy Utley
Hey all!
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
So, I had a minor family emergency come up over the weekend. My father got his thumb caught in the blade of his table saw Thursday afternoon, and ended up having to have emergency surgery on Friday to have part of it removed. Because of that, I did not get to complete publication of the Banner like I had planned this weekend. I will attempt to get it done later this evening. Also, I have a meeting for my local CERT team this evening, and because of that, will not be able to call the Monday sideband net. If anyone else is willing, go ahead and call it and have a little fun (Doc, K5OSA, maybe you should try your hand at it! It's easy to do!) Have a good day, everyone! FYBO2015 Summaries, Soapbox, and Logs
John Stevens (K5JS)
A question or two about logs has come up... You really don't need to send logs if you don't want to. All that is really necessary is the short scoring summary or something like it with all the info detailed on the FYBO 2015 rules page at http://www.azscqrpions.org. If you want to send logs, feel free. Anything will do. Email text, adif, cabrillo, whatever. Please do include a little write-up about your adventures and pictures for the Soapbox section. OR send a link to them if you have already put them up somewhere. We'll include your links so we all can enjoy your write-up. Send your summaries and soapbox stuff to FYBO2015@... or even reply to this email. It will get here. Here's a point getting tip! Remember to use the LOWEST temperature you experience. Send it all day long. Have that thermometer out at the starting bell and get a cool number. We are looking forward to Saturday and hope that you will jump in and make some contacts and let us know how you did!! Tomorrow night is the deadline for putting together a team! Email k7ddmjb@... with your team name and members! Watch for several NQ7RP stations on multiple bands at White Tanks mountain park on the western edge of Phoenix. NQ7RP/5 will operate from the swamps of Louisiana between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The Louisiana station will start out on 80M and work up the bands looking for stations. Yep. That includes 10M later in the morning too. See you Saturday! Reply to this email with questions or to K7DD. 72 John K5JS

Terry, for the computer hash coming out of the USB port, you can try shielded USB cables. Amazon's got some for pretty cheap - but a lot also depends on what you're hooking them up to. I've got USB cables going to my signalink and my winkeyer, so I've got a couple of em on order from Amazon. I need to go on a noise hunt here at home myself. Would really like to figure out why I have an S7-9 noise level all across 80&40 meters - oh the joys of living in an urban environment! Jeremy

NIce net tonight thans guys. 80 was in pretty good shape early on
but became tougher as the net moved along. Brad and I had a tough
time but finally managed the contact. Paul and Bart were booming
in, good to hear them so strong again. Has anyone managed to
overcome computer hash coming out of the USB port. My radios are
much better behaved if I unplug them.
Making it in were Thanks again and I;m hoping or a big turnout on 7122 in the morning. - 72 WAØITP I love this radio stuff. Back to the bench, Winter's too valuable to waste. www.wa0itp.com wa0itp@...

Tonight's 40m nets
Wayne Dillon
Good evening all, the early net was much better than I had hoped for when I checked the solar numbers earlier in the day. The signals weren't huge but for once the noise level here on 40 was reasonably low (S5-7) so I was able to pull a couple of stations out, always a pleasure. The late net, only Chas made it through but at about 02:45 there was one but I just couldn't make it out - sorry. So, combining the two efforts:
