It's a balmy.... well.. not quite balmy... 9f.. now..after a heavy day of very difficult warming..

Carolina, we had 6 1/2 inches of snow two days ago.

I finally got out of our 1.4 mile driveway and 3/4 mile of private unpaved road today after 'tractoring' the slopes on the driveway to clear some of the snow. 4 wheel drive is great in such instances. We were thawing today, but it is supposed to freeze tonight and the real problem will be "black ice" in the morning. This is just to let you know "you are not alone", but this will pass and hopefully this is the last blast of winter for us. Temperatures have been 20 degrees below normal here for the last 2 weeks. An 80m foxhunt will occur this evening, (local) starting at 0200z in the 80 acre wood (3550-3570) N8SS and WC7S will be slinking around... looking to hand out pelts, to the lucky hounds that make safe shots. IF the last few hunts are any indication of how this works best.... spread out the pack a lot. We both have tuning knobs... and we know how to use them. We will indicate where we are listening, by calling "FOX call-(WC7S or N8SS)- UP, or DWN" The exhange is - RST-SP-NAME-PWR- Please 5w or less. This is a propagation study, not how much power you have.. but how much skill. Then, after it is over.. the PRELIM logs will be posted, on the qfox reflector, for TYPO, Fat Finger, or Transcription errors.. then, 24 hours later.. the FINAL log will be posted. It was great to hear you again. Tonight I was running my 6V6 xtal controlled oscillator at 1 Watt output. My " QRP " receiver for ( almost ) all QRP rigs is an Icom 718 even if the QRP rig has a receiver. I also have a 6T9 " Lil Giant ", several of the MFJ 90XX series and other rigs that are rotated on the air. I have a half wired 12A6 and an AC-1 clone on the bench also. I monitor 7122 almost all day every day so give a blind call from time to time - also on 7043, the boat-anchor frequency with my AT-1/DX-20/WRL Globe Chief/DX-60, which shows up on 7160 AM and 29 MHz AM also. Also a Hammarlund HQ-110 receiver - see QRZ.com.
