Need Signal Report
WA0ITP
I've been messing with my antenna and would like to give it a try tonight. I added some wire right before Ocon, and a 1:1 current balun tonight. It's now 136 ft long and loads nicely on 80 and 40.
Anyone up for a short qso this evening to try it out on 80 and 40 ? TIA -- 72 WAØITP I love this radio stuff. www.wa0itp.com wa0itp@...

OzarkCon, NS 40, J 38, T/R switch
Michael McEwen
After reading all the posts, I am especially sorry I we couldn't come to OzarkCon this year...health problems, but they should resolved well before next year's event. I really look forward to some face-to-face QSO's with the group. I have found an NS-40 kit and would like to use it as the TX with my Ozark Patrol. The only problem is that I just cannot do the soldering required...the instruction are excellent but I did not realize how close together the resistors are and I can no longer do such soldering, am too shaky for fine work. I experimented using some junk box board and resistors...no joy. If someone would like to build it for me, I would be happy to pay for time and postage. And speaking of my arm/wrist/hand problem, I have found that the best for me is a J 38...for some reason, it just seems to be the easiest. I now have a very good condition J-38 that really is the easiest key/keyer I have used. It is fine for my slow CW and is less prone to errors than other types I've tried. If anyone out there has a disability that limits CW dexterity, I would strongly suggest trying a J 38. In fact, I have a modern replica "J 38" that I will be happy to give to anyone who wants to give a try. Finally, I am working on an enclosure for the Patrol and NS 40...actually I'm "designing" it and my cabinet maker son will build it. We are thinking of a nice grain oak and some ventilation grills and haven't decided on what stain...I tend to like dark oak but the patrol control panel might look better on a light finish. What are suggestions for a simple T/R switch? I will get pix of the project as it goes along. 73/2, Doc K5OSA - QTH: EM04sr ARRL 4SQRP #801 - NAQCC #7625 - SKCC #10098 - FISTS #17157 - OMISS #9886 LFSARC (Lawton/Fort Sill Amateur Radio Club) Dr. Michael T McEwen Lt Col, US Army, Ret Cellular Phone: 580 919-9205 Residence: 580 529-3412

Re: QRPometer Power but Not Correct
Rich Fowler <k8meg@...>
Chuck, You are getting this reading because of either a cold solder joint on one of the 100 ohm resistors or the switch. First item would be to solder the resistors on top side of PCB. If that doesn't work, then reheat and apply fresh solder to switch posts. Tilt board so solder does run into the switches. :-) 72, Rich K8MEG

I have a QRPometer that seems to be built correctly but does not measure power correctly? Compared to mine which does work correctly and accurately... Mine measures a power source at 1.92 Watts The bad unit measures 0.45 Watts from the same source. The unit powers up OK except that the minus sign is displayed and is flashing. Is there a voltage chart available? I probably could compare it point by point to mine but which are the best and most useful points to check? Chuck Carpenter, W5USJ EM22cv, Rains Co. Dave - as I remember it, you have the access to the 4sQRP's webserver - if you want, you could just upload a zip file of them into that and I could pull them down here. Or any other method of transfer would work for me! Jeremy

For other operating systems ImageMagick can do most any image manipulation - resize, convert types or whatever. It can easily be done on batches of pictures as well. http://www.imagemagick.org/ Regards, ray W0PFO --

Ideas from OzarkCon
davemrtn
I want to thank Mike Malone - KD5KXF for sharing his ideas and experiences with kit building and scratch building.
I found his idea about using the electric skillet to be a good idea for reflowing, and I will also use that idea to salvage SMT devices from PCB's. Next chance I get, I am headed to the Salvation Army to see if I can find an old electric skillet (for cheap) to use just for this purpose...... I think this will keep me out of the dog house.... maybe !! -- David Martin - Mountain Home, Ar. - K5DCM

John, respectfully, I wish people would upload images in multiple sizes with the images optimized for file size. . . . It might also be worth noting that online services such as Flickr and Photobucket are good places to put photos in full resolution for free (up to a generous amount of free storage) instead of using up limited Yahoo Groups space. Instead of merely indicating there's photos related to a post in the group's photo section, the post could include direct clickable links to the photos in the body of the post. They could then be looked at immediately in a new tab or window of the browser. 73, Todd ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ K7TFC / Medford, Oregon, USA / CN82ni / UTC-8 (PS T)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I need to send pictures to someone, I always reduce the resolution to 640 x 480 first (using GIMP). The resolution is still good enough to view on a computer screen, yet saves lots of space and, in my case, lets me send several of them at a time. If someone should ever want a better resolution version of the same picture, then I would send him that original alone. So far, only one person has ever wanted the higher resolution version of a picture. You could do the same when uploading your pictures to the webpage. I doubt anyone would notice. And, of course, for pictures of me, the less resolution, the better I look-hi. 72, John AA0VE

I started to upload pics from Ocon, but realized it was going to
limit the Mbytes I could upload, so just a very few pics, and I had
to upload one at a time. So, I deleted the one pic I had uploaded,
but yahoo sent out a message anyway !!
Not that my pics are anything to write home about, but I do want to get them posted somewhere and to Jeremy if he wants to use any. Problem is I must have about 40 or 50 to pick from.... On 04/13/2015 08:42 AM,
