I heard some of you on there when your first started at 9 AM (my time). I had an appointment with a VA rep so I could stay and play. Most Thursdays I have "work" or I would be trying to check in.

NAQCC mW Sprint

Gary KF7WNS

Worked the NAQCC mW Sprint last night.  What fun, but not for the faint of heart.  It's a grueling two hour test of patience and stamina.  Also takes a good imagination to fill in the dits lost to QSB.  W2SH/Charles you had a great signal here in Oregon for about five seconds.

June SSS Results

John Lonigro

This is a new low for the SSS. Two people sent in scores and three people had soapbox comments. The storms won this month, although WD9F Woody's three QSO performance catapulted him in the standings to number 7. KV6Z Bill increased his lead over Terry by snagging one QSO. And W2SH Chas at least gave it the old college try. I'm sure others did as well. As we all know, it's not nice (or wise) to fool with Mother Nature.

Before the July SSS, someone needs to send some burnt offerings to Thor (we are getting desperate here).

Hope everyone stays safe and dry. Please avoid flooded roads, unless you are in a boat.

John AA0VE

Skeeter numbers issued starting Sunday

Larry Makoski <w2lj@...>

To all QRPers!

The 4th Annual NJQRP Skeeter Hunt will be held on Sunday, August 9th. In keeping with tradition, Skeeter numbers will begin to be issued on the First Day of Summer, which is this coming Sunday, June 21st.

You don't have to wait until Sunday to send in your request! Just send an e-mail to w2lj@..., to request a number, along with your name, call and the state you will be operating from. Whenever you make your request, from now until August 8th, you'll receive a confirming e-mail, along with your Skeeter number.

All the details for this soon-to-be Summer classic, can be found at www.qsl.net/w2lj

There are a few minor rule changes this year and they are detailed at the Website. And remember, the NJQRP Skeeter Hunt is an SSB friendly event - there is a SSB category and even a mixed category for those who would like to give their microphones a workout.

Hope to see your e-mail in my inbox!

We had a few check-ins despite the bad weather.
Lightning all around and we could get up to 12 inches of rain here (worst cast prediction).

Making it in were:

WA9PWP   Paul       Stoughton, WI
WA0ITP      Terry      Ottumwa, IA
N5AF          Sam      Cleveland, TX
N2QFD       Mal       Elmira, NY
KV6Z          Bill         Claremore, OK (NCS)

It kills me how Sam can produce a 579 with a 1 watt tube rig.
No trouble copying that 6V6 through the QRN.

Thanks everybody,

Luncheon Meeting on Saturday

David Bixler <qrp@...>

Hi folks:

This is your reminder that the June 4SQRP luncheon get-together will be this upcoming Saturday, the 20th. We will be at our usual place at the Country Cupboard in downtown Seneca, MO. Lunch will be at 11:00.

Just a relaxed lunch and gab session, no business meeting or anything formal. Maybe someone will bring something for show-and-tell?

Looks like a decent weather forecast for Saturday. Probably will be soggy ground and the creeks will be up after the rain from the tropical storm passes through here on Thursday.

I realize that most of our members live a LONG way from Seneca. How about finding a few like-minded folks in your neck of the woods and start up other local get-togethers? It could be fun.....

Great idea Mike,

This would make a great group build project on the reflector.  There could be many contributors taking on a specific board.  Diz's toolkits might be employed where he has them available, and others could be incorporated from other sources, scratch built, or boards designed and purchased.  The Dream boards could be employed if desired also, there are some FB circuits on them.

Anyone want to get the ball rolling, coordinate, or be the cheerleader?

I agree with your thoughts. I would like to perhaps see a mother board approach to the rig. A set of basic modules:
audio amplifier
crystal filter
product detector
receive mixer
receive input bandpass filter
master VFO/VXO
transmit mixer
transmit driver stages
transmit final amplifier
transmit low  pass filter
etc
that plug into a mother board for inter connect. Add to that prototype boards that would be used to replace various modules with other implementations for experimentation. Maybe provisions on the mother board to add an Arduino to control a DDS replacement for the VFO, a display, keyer etc.

Basic package would be simple modules to get a working radio. In some ways this would be a modular kit something a bit like the Tentec Rebel. Maybe even have provision on the mother board for a balanced modulator/filter for SSB generation some time in the future. Perhaps a partial chassis for the rig could have a front panel big enough for several knobs for various controls and a display.

Maybe a place on the mother board to plug in a tuner module. The whole package would not be super small but rather large enough to be able to easily work on (and build).
