Send in your score!

John Lonigro

It's Monday. If you didn't participate in the SSS last night, your next chance won't be until November (4X4 Sprint is in October).

If you DID participate in the SSS last night, don't forget to send in your results so I can tally them. You've got until midnight tomorrow (Tuesday) night to get them in. I'll tally the final score for this cycle of the SSS early Wednesday morning. Scores received after that will be considered late and ignored. This is your only reminder to send in your score. Send an email with your results to:

SecondSundaySprint@4SQRP.com

Put "Sprint" in the subject line.

I'd prefer you didn't "reply" to this email with your results. This is my everyday email. I have a special one set up for sprints.

Thanks and 72,

John, AA0VE

SSS is this Sunday evening!

John Lonigro

This coming Sunday (tomorrow) is the last "SECOND" SUNDAY SPRINT of the (contest) year. The October 4x4 sprint is next month. If you are still in the running for the privilege of using the club's WQ5RP callsign, don't stop now. If you are hopelessly behind, jump in there anyway to sharpen your skills for next year. I'm thinking of making slight changes to this sprint for next year, assuming I have time. They won't be much different from the current rules, and there aren't any changes yet.

Here are the details, which should be familiar to all by now:

Date/time: Sunday, 20 September, 2015, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm CDT (0000 - 0200Z Monday).
Bands: 160M through 10M, no WARC bands or 60M.
Frequencies: The usual QRP CW watering holes plus 7122 kHz and 3564 kHz.
Also check out these QRP SB watering holes: 3985 kHz, 7285 kHz, 14285 kHz, 21385 kHz, and 28385 kHz
Power: 5 Watts maximum (even on sideband).
Mode: CW or sideband (see above for recommended frequencies).
Exchange: RST, SPC, and member number (members) or RST, SPC, power (non-members).
Calling CQ: "CQ 4S" recommended.

Note: Contacts with the same station on different bands are allowed. Beware: The
sideband and CW portions of a band count as the same band.

Reporting is easy:
Add up your QSOs for each band/mode and send that number to me.

With that in mind, a typical report would be:

Name: Sparky
Call: K9MUT
QTH: Branson, MO
4SQRP number: 5280
Results:
40M: 3 QSOs
80M: 6 QSOs
Total: 9 QSOs

You do not need to list the stations contacted or mode. But if you make
an exotic contact, you might as well brag about it in an optional
bragging section at the bottom of your submittal. I'll include any soapbox comments
when I report the scores (no extra credit).

When you've totaled your score, please send it to:
secondsundaysprint@4sqrp.com. Put "Sprint" in the subject line. Send the
results by Monday evening if at all possible. I'll tally everything and publish them on
this reflector as soon as possible. I suggest you send them in shortly
after 9:00 pm Sunday so you don't forget. If you see a mistake or
omission when I publish the results, let me know and I'll fix it.

Keep this email until after you've submitted your score for Sunday.
Remember, the 4SQRP member with the most SSS contacts between November, 2014
and September, 2015 will be allowed to use the club's callsign, WQ5RP,
for the 4X4 sprint in October, 2015 (2 weeks from today).

The SSS rules are posted on the 4SQRP website, under "4SQRP On Air
Activities", just in case you delete this email.

72 and good luck in the contest,

John AA0VE
SSS Coordinator

SSS is this Sunday

John Lonigro

Brutus may be able to postpone the SSS, but he can't cancel it. This Sunday is the "September Sunday Sprint". It's the last one of the 2014-2015 series and your last chance to rack up some QSOs. The member with the most SSS QSOs between Nov, 2014 and September, 2015 gets to use the coveted WQ5RP club callsign during the 4x4 Sprint coming up in a little more than 2 weeks (Oct 3).

So let's make this last SSS of the season a well-attended one. Once again, it's this Sunday evening, from 7:00-9:00 pm CDT (that's 0000 to 0200 UTC Monday).

72,

John AA0VE
4SQRP Contest Coordinator

Re: Wednesday Night 40m CW Net

Good morning Bill,
Sounded like you were kept busy last evening. I was nice to be able to sign in to the net, it's been a while. Once again I was on the front porch with the KX3 and the W3EDP antenna via a 4:1 balun. It seems that as the evening progressed I was the main entree item for the bugs! gonna have to get me some of them citronella candles ( then it'll look like I'm performing some kinda black art on the porch) and some "bug lights" for the porch lights.
I hung around for the 80m net but heard not a thing.
Be blessed all and for those who can get there enjoy the morning 40m net.

Re: The SLC Loop

dekle <dekle@...>

Hi Ray,

I connected the center conductor and the braid together at each end.
Then each end was soldered directly to their respective circuit board pieces.
I also tried 10 ga. stranded house wire for the main loop and it worked also.
Let me know how your SLC Loop works out or if you have any more questions.
