TennaDipper
I just found my old 4SQRP TennaDipper and printed out the instructions from the kit archives. Does anyone have the original instructions for setting up the pots for each band without a freq counter?

Re: New summary file on Skillet technique of SMD assembly
Has anyone seen the technique of soldering surface mount parts in a toaster oven.
I tried it and set off my smoke detector!

New summary file on Skillet technique of SMD assembly
Went off on a tear today looking up and chasing down the 'skillet' technique of SMD assembly. Found a bunch of material and decided to pull it all into a single document for my own use and then

Re: SMD soldering aids for small boards [1 Attachment]
Terry,
I use thin strips of 3M blue masking tape used by painting contractors, to strap the SMDs down to the board, but it may take just a little more time positioning one of the precut tape strips

Here's one I did a while ago.
It works well, the pressure is variable, and it's quite handy.

Re: SMD soldering aids for small boards
Very neat ideas - all of them. I haven't had to tackle a SMD board yet but no doubt that will be coming up soon and these all look like good ideas.

If I'd thought to look for those hold down devices, I'd probably have done it like that. I like Steve Weber's one with the toothpick and also that bent wire job with a handful of fishing weights

Re: SMD soldering aids for small boards
Very interesting idea Jim. Is the force of the wire that holds the components in place sufficient to damage them? I am going to make one but I doubt it will look as professional.
