Bill, Good morning,
I feel I may need to defend my signal report to you last night. 339 was my best average of your signals. At times you were 599 for very brief periods, and would then fade out

Okay, to be clear, if I really want to put the caps on the board, but want
to keep the most flexibility, 10 - 50 uf would be a decent compromise?

I had bad static as well but did hear the QNI call. I may try my HB1B next time. My Pixie is a challenge. I have 13 States now and it seems to be on frequency. My BJ is low in frequency with my KC9ON

Bill,
I heard you once clearly. I heard the DR suffix but missed Marc's prefix.

Trying to get the hang of this, might have been me you heard but then again maybe not. Not much signal here in Florida. 80m was a total bust with S9+ noise, no storms just noise.
Someday you will

Re: Cricket 30 loud buzzing
I wonder if the receiver is cycling through an oscillation at audio frequency. Like trying to super-regenerate, but at an audible rate?

Ray,
What is the type of transistor tester that you are using? I have an old M3 Tester but it does not indicate capacitance. That is really cool! I had a 77WS IRF-510 and when I replaced with

Hooked up to an antenna and heard a signal. It was weak but it was there. Buried in the buzz.
