Re: VIAS
Hi John,
The original (white panel) BJ didn't call for filling any of the vias with solder. In fact, it's not strictly necessary even on the later versions. Just provides a little more conductivity

Re: oldie but a goldie Tenna dipper
I think there is plenty of room in there for a QRPGuys.com Thru-Hole Freq Counter - well, at least enough room, anyway. I felt guilty wasting all the extra space by putting mine in a mint tin.

oldie but a goldie Tenna dipper
Just finished my tenna dipper kit from long ago. Its a souped up version with a multi turn 10k, I want to fit in a freq counter but I don't think I can fit any more into it!
Also used a micro rotary

I use 21' of coax wrapped so its inside diameter is 6" with coax feed on one end and straight to 450 Ohm Ladder Line.
Been using this for years and I have little to no trouble tuning the

I use a homebrewed dual-core (Guanella) balun. It's in a 4x4" weatherproof ABS enclosure mounted just outside my shack window.

Re: G5RV Antenna
Twenty years ago, my G5RV came with a balun.
Dipole with coil in each leg, a length of window line from the center feedpoint, then a balun with SO239 to connect with 50ohm coax to shack.
Worked great

Re: G5RV Antenna
I’ve used the G5RV for years. No balun and followed the original p,an by adjusting the ladderline to coax connection for the lowest SWR on 20 WITHOUT the tuner.
My 2 cents worth

Re: G5RV Antenna
No balun on mine. Goes directly to coax which goes to the tuner. It works well with minimal RF in the shack. It's been my primary antenna for more than ten years.

Re: G5RV Antenna
I had a home brewed G5RV some years ago. I used a LDG 4:1 balun to match the 450 Ohm ladder-line. It seemed to work as well as any other G5RV I have experienced.

Re: G5RV Antenna
George,
I did have a G5RV and it was fed with coax no balun. When the wind broke the 450 ohm window line I spliced on a hunk of window line and used a 4-1 balun.
