Yep, it's pretty quiet around here as well. 40 meters sounds like a ghost town tonight.
Oh well, I guess all the guys in Dayton are stimulating the economy!

Re: Dans Small Parts now on eBay
Thought I would go try to find Dan on ebay. I found "twisttwinkel" as a seller, but it says there are no items listed for sale. Perhaps I am in the wrong place?

Re: Stuck capacitor
Before you damage it, check the plates.. some of them arerubbing against each other.. rotator rubbing against stator...
or the main frame is bent inwards...

Re: Stuck capacitor
Two thoughts. Try a product specifically formulated for penetration. PB Blaster, etc. Apply copiously every hour or so and let sit overnight. The other things you tried weren't meant for penetration,

John,
Try automobile brake cleaner fluid on both bearings to loosen it. Then flush that out with WD-40. Finally use a toothpick to put just a very little white lithium grease on both bearings.

I have a "perfectly" good dual gang 400 pf variable capacitor from an old Heathkit signal generator. The only part of it that is NOT perfect is the fact that it is extremely difficult to turn. I

Let's find out where our cw is today. Check in with your own speed, and I will match you,
we'll chat a bit, and have a good time. To keep the rust off the key, it works!
No fancy Q signals, no roll

thumb on skirt, index on top of knob, middle on skirt. slight squeezepressure with middle and thumb to control rebound . Index controls downpressure. Just like the old manuals show. Has worked best
