I used one of the small Harbor Freight brake off knives with some success. Most of the new kits and wire have the enamal the burns off as you solder it. I always try to get new solderable enameled

Re: Scraping insulation off magnet wire for toroids
If the insulation is thick, I use a lighter to burn it off, then sandpaper or an emery board to get the blackened remains off and make it shiny copper. I then tin it before mounting it on the board.

Hi John,
After scraping the wire as best as I can, I follow it up with sandpaper to remove the rest.

Re: 4SQRPG antenna tuner/coupler
GM Gilles,
I would like to add to Steve’s comments. Besides expensive shipping - at one point it cost $180 USD to ship a $30 USD kit to South Africa - we had a lot of kits taking between a month

Re: 4SQRPG antenna tuner/coupler
It's not the custom fees but the embargos due to covid....but shipping to anywhere out of the U.S. has become very expensive.

The 4S Tuner really is the perfect bit of kit in the field!
I built mine several years ago and use it regularly with my Bayou Jumper.
There are other QRP tuners on the market, but this is the perfect

Glad you jumped in Ed
Don’t worry about sending perfect code or sending super fast, just listen to my mistakes!
If you need me to slow down send QRS and I will dial it back.
