Re: New Key
Johnny,
They seem to be pretty good & sturdy.
Adjustment is a little tricky, but it stays adjusted.
I have 2 and the magnets work very well on a clipboard I modified for POTA use.

Re: License question
Ron, go for the most advanced license you are comfortable with taking, then let's get you on the air. Awesome good operators will help you.
Isn't it amazing how many ex-military and commercial CW ops,

Hello Ron,
I agree with Tom N2UHC; go for the General Class ticket. With your background, it should be a cakewalk. Just study the on-line question pools. Besides, it's a government, multi-choice

Hi Ron and Tom, go for it Ron, with your background you should have no problem absorbing what you need to pass any FCC test. And, BTW, I was a Ground Radio Repairman with the 6987 RSM, ShuLinKou,

Re: License question
Tech license? Heck, go for at least General so you can use HF! We'd be happy to have you.
BTW, I was a Morse intercept op in the Air Force from 1989-1993.

Hi Ron,
It's good to meet you!
It looks like you've already gotten a bunch of responses so I'm sure I'm just chiming in. It's been my experience that local ham radio clubs will typically go out of

Re: License question
The recent CQ Magazine has an article in it about an eight year old boy who went from "nothing" to Amateur Extra Class in 68 days. I'm sure that at the tender age of eight year, he didn't know enough

Re: License question
Ron, you can do it, (get your Tech, General and even Extra if you desire). All of the license exam questions and answers are published. Get on the air as soon as you are licensed at whatever level.

Ron,
Just DO IT! I am mentoring an 82 y/o retired dentist and he is having the time of his life. There are so many small QRP transceiver kits you can build and use that you will be busy for years.

Thanks Jamie saved me from searching for that email. Roi is an excellent instructor and that will be the new material.
There is no time like the present to get involved with this fascinating hobby.

Ron
Please join us. Check the web to see if there's a club nearby, most have volunteer exam sessions, some even do courses.
The vhf fm and packet era peaked a couple decades ago. Still these things

Ron,
Your letter is inspiring. BTW thank you for your service.
Ron seems to me you have a running start and are already much more than halfway to your goal of joining the Amateur Radio ranks.
