Re: FCC DF site is hiring
I agree wid U Curt, it's crowded enough. And, if only this had been open before I retired I'd have applied. Though I don't have the experience that Tom/N2HUC has.

Here in central South Carolina, KPH was S9 all afternoon on 17016.8 kc. The receiver (IC7610) has a built-in recorder, which served the same purpose as Jim’s iPhone!
My backup plan was a web SDR

Shirley,
I have been called a numbskull in the distant past so a tight headband causes no pain whatsoever. Ha! I can wear mine for an hour or so when needed.

Okay next county south from me, I will insure I don't have stray emissions. Okay I see clue they likely employ receiving stations at multiple sites to assist with sky wave DF.

KPH Enigma test ...
at 1900 UTC I'm copying KPH on RTTY (45 baud, 170 Hz shift) at 13585.5 kHz, using fldigi
About 80% print here in Louisiana,
So I'm hoping the 12808.5 or perhaps 17016.8 kHz CW

Re: A very interesting 4S-Link unit
I'm guessing that this unit might be one of the five prototypes that I sent out for evaluation. There were a number of resistors and components that changed prior to the release of production units.

I'm like you, Tom. There are NO "wants" to move to Maryland.......but if that job location was at Gloster, MA, I would be putting in a resume.

Re: BayouJumper parts
Hi David,
The 2N5819 diodes actually have the part number printed on them - but you'll probably need a 5x or better magnifier to see.
The polarity is determined by the light colored band around one

I just finished my BJ in time for the London Calling event. I'm an old guy and I found that a loupe and a couple of magnifying glasses helped loads in reading the ID on those little bitty match-head

Once I went through the inventory I was able to figure out which were which. If I was just going step by step I would have had one hell of a time. Try the full inventory if you haven’t already and
