Reminder - no SSS this weekend

John Lonigro

Due to the on-going Brutus Bash, the SSS has been postponed until next Sunday, September 21st.

Let's hope the recent CME's and solar flares don't shut down the airwaves this weekend.

Look for the usual SSS reminders in the coming days...

Re: New Brutus WX forcast, still FB

Charlie Vest

I get my weather from Tulsa TV and they are saying a record low, high temperature for today, of about 62.

At least we won't have to worry about needing AC !!!

Planning on coming over this afternoon, after my body adjusts to this cool weather this morning. Looking forward to a GREAT weekend, meeting everyone and having fun. My body is actually allowing me decent mobility today, so that is another good sign that it is going to be a great weekend.

I might need Brutus to lift me out of bed, from camping, in the morning. Haven't been in a tent in decades. Got spoiled by the Winnebago.

Hope conditions stay decent on the air, but if not, that will be fine too, more time to visit and get to know everyone.

Several guys from Coffeyville, talked about coming over. They hadn't heard about it and it was announced at the club meeting Tuesday night. I am THRILLED to see ANY type of radio, building and exploring, interest in ANY mode of getting them on the air. Hopefully a few will become members and really get into QRP and building. They didn't even know about the kits, but many were impressed and interested in them.

FANTASTIC way to end the summer. See everyone this afternoon / evening and the rest of the weekend. Not going to get in any hurry, just a tourist style trip over and get the tent up.

Charlie, W5COV

Not sure if this will come through but I included a 2 page pdf file.
The Octal socket - if yours is like this one requires a 1.172” hole size. The 2nd page shows the standard Greenlee punches and their hole sizes. I believe step drill will be the best.

OM and YLs,

I will be hiking this weekend in the Ouchita National Forrest. I'm hoping to play radio between 11a and 1p then again in the evenings between 5-7p. Saturday-Tuesday.

No SOTA, just exercise and radio!!

I'll probably call (CW) at the xx.122 frequency for 20/40. Keep an ear out for me. We won't be that far apart!

So guys, looks like it might get a little rough this weekend.  From what I’m reading, there was a CME yesterday, and chances are good it will mess up the bands quite a bit this weekend.  Or at least that’s what they are saying.

I’m pretty much all packed up, just hoping it doesn’t rain tonite or tomorrow, so I’m not trying to pack the truck in the rain.  Hoping to leave Iola by 11 or 12 tomorrow morning.  Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Hi Group,

I really wanted to make it to the Brutus bash this year, but several things have
come up in the past couple of weeks that are making it very hard to get away this weekend.
I have had vacation down in the books at work since getting home from OzarkCon.
But, I am going to have to pass on attending this year. Even so, I am already planning on next years bash. The 4 states group is the best!

I hope that the weather will treat all the 'brutus bashers' well this weekend and that the
bands are "hot". I heard about the X class solar flare, so I am hoping that it will
not be a kill-joy this weekend.

I will probably be at the HBQRP meeting this Saturday, and we will try to make a contact
from the HBQRP group meeting room to some of the Brutus group.. Just like last year but
instead of being at Brutus, I'll be up here in Ashland Nebraska..
I hope that there will be someone who can listen for us on 7.122 around 1pm Saturday.
