Hi all,

Just thought I would say Hello and ask if anyone knows where I might obtain a crystal that falls between 14.1700 and 14.2400 Mhz? It is for a 10 Meter DSB QRP project I am now in the process of building.

I have tried most of the usual sources but to no avail. Any help, advice or suggestions on this one would be greatly appreciated.

Oops. It is labeled as above, but on further review, the stamped frequency on the Bliley electric tag is 3548.4 kc.

Sorry for false alarm.

The Big Brutus Bash will take place September  Sept 13th and 14th.  We each need to make our own reservations by calling  the desk at 620-827-6177  I'm setting up on Friday.  Camping fees are dirt cheap, $15/nite for RVs and travel trailers, and $10/nite for tents.
Google finds lots of info on Brutus
 https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=&ie=UTF-8&q=big%20brutus

We had a great turnout last year and everyone had super good time.  Please clear your calendars for the weekend of Sept 13 and 14 and head to West Mineral, KS  for a great weekend of QRP fun and comaradie. Many ladies attended last year and Joy Dufrain hosted an artistic painting class.  Where there are ladies, there are organized activities, so pse consider joining your husbands for the weekend.  You'll be adding some class to the outing for sure.  So bring your radios, campers, tents, or stay in Pittsburg, and make a really good QRP weekend.

Again this year Walter, K5EST, and I will be flying large kites to hoist monster wire antennas, come see the show, or bring your own. I will also bring a small RC model airplane for added fun.  It will be available for everyone to try - as long as it lasts :o)

Also a tailgate mini hamfest is on the list of activities.  It was very popular last year so lets repeat it this year, bring your stuff !!  Ladies, pse bring your crafts, artwork, or favorite for display or sale.

Here's some pertinent info:
Cellphone coverage
Shade if needed
Perfect weather (it never rains at Brutus)
Day trip visitors welcome
10 camping spots with Electricity and lots of space for tents.
Interesting museum and open tours of Brutus
Wide open spaces for antennas and poles.
Near Pittsburg for motels, restaurants, and shopping
Directions from Pittsburg:
South on US 60 for 3 miles
Right on US 400 for 7 miles
Left on KS-7 for 4 miles
Right on KS-102 aka Scammon Rd for 5 miles
On the West side of West Mineral turn left on NW 60 St for 1/4 mile
As you approach West Mineral look South, you'll see it.
    Here's a map http://www.bigbrutus.org/map.html
Bring your favorite portable setup, or use one of ours.

Please make your reservations as early as possible to insure a space. If you don't have time to stay overnight, pse feel free to come and spend a day with us in this excellent corner of Southeast Kansas.  Call soon for reservations,  620-827-6177

Thanks and looking forward to an eyeball at Brutus, Sept 13, 14  only 3 weekends away.

One to go...

Once again I find myself indebted to the generosity of spirit of the members of the 4SQRP Group. last evening Sam (AL7V) gave me AK. He was a genuine 559 into SE Kansas, a distance of about 2300 miles from Juneau Alaska. His signal positively rolled down hill into Columbus while mine struggled uphill to Juneau but we made the exchange. A huge thank you Sam for your time and effort. he suggested that I listen later on 30m but I gotta tell ya Sam, from where I was sitting 30m was a Zoo!
I had to give Sam the "full gallon" i.e. 5 watts but the deed is done. Now just RI to go....

Re: Big Brutus Outing Sept 13, 14

During the hours the visitor’s center is open, water and bathrooms are available from there.  After hours, they have some very primitive “pit” toilets available at the far end of the parking lot, not sure about water after hours, but I know myself I usually bring along a full case of bottled water, and usually have more than enough to share with others.  It’s a lot of fun, I’ve attended the last 2 years now.

Re: More on the Hawaii qso

Yup, Lloyd had super ears there.  I needed Hawaii to get the last state for 160 meter QRP CW WAS and ran a sked with him.  He stayed up late his time to make the sked and he had no problem hearing my 5 watts from the KX3 on 160.  It was about 6 a.m. here and I think around  1 a.m. there.   It's a good thing I had a sked with him as the pileup on him just after we worked was horrendous.

I have KH6LC in my log for just about every contest I've ever been in as well so he's extremely active and a heck of a nice guy.

Well I just downloaded my confirmed contacts from LOTW and I see that Lloyd (KH6LC) has confirmed our QSO, YEAH!!! I looked at his web site and It's not surprising he managed to copy me, I recon with that antenna set-up he could probably hear a gnat fart off the coast of Maine in a Noreaster! quite some set-up.
I e-mailed Sam re an Alaska QSO, just need someone in RI, anyone???
By the way, I had to give Lloyd the "full Gallon" (5 watts) but we made it. He really is a super operator. Shame I couldn't claim 1KMPW but hey, it's in the log at 5 watts.

Way to go Wayne.................I just got my last state, ND, couple of weeks ago
but must admit it was with 80 watts. I don't think the 80 watts helped much though.
Alaska, SD and ND were the tough ones for me. If you have not tried it yet,
consider watching for the contests that occur nearly every weekend that are
often specific to a state..........good way to find folks.

Again, congratulations. See you at Ozcon 2015!
