My mail receiver on 40 meter CW is an Icom 756PROII using relay switching to connect it's antenna to the QRP rig du jour, mostly a MFJ 9040 which is powered by a variable Voltage power supply.

Bill Monroe and his "Bluegrass Boys" used to play that one. As you said, an old Bluegrass standard and very fun to play on a 5-string banjo. I should know.....as does Nick.

If you are not going to do packet or aprs, I wouldn't get the TNC-Pi. Just go with the USB sound card for the PSK31 op's.
