Re: crystal sockets or mounting pins
If you need a more robust technique also remember that machine pin type sockets stack easily. You could take another similar piece and solder the crystal to it so you are not stressing the crystal

Re: crystal sockets or mounting pins
That was a nice trick. I already looked out for sockets. But that is a better solution. Thanks.

Pig Rig Serial Number Question
I have a bit of a dilemma . My invoice shows my pig as SN 172 . My bag of parts shows it as SN 171 .
So someone else should have a similar conflict .
Would like to make sure we don't build 2 with

NS-40 advice requested
I have just completed the NS-40 kit. I purposely have not soldered the xtal in place yet. I am thinking that I should build the VXO next, and I assume it will plug in the same holes in the board. Am

Re: crystal sockets or mounting pins
Gm Chuck:
Thanks for the pics to clarify the crystal sockets. Did you suggest in the first post a way to make a grounding clip from a paper clip?
My thoughts would be to bend the end at a right angle

Re: crystal sockets or mounting pins
Bobby,
Here's one with pictures...
http://www.qrpkits.com/buildertip03.html
Used this method on many Rock-Mites and others to make complete band changes including output filters. Worked out well

Re: PigRigTP-19 Enclosures
Hi Terry,
Your offer is really nice. Could I get a label for March, s/n 159?
Also, have you found out how much the crystals and shipping will cost?
Thanks again for doing this,
72/73, Dave, KD6A

crystal sockets or mounting pins
There was a link posted a few days ago referring to a means for installing pig rig crystals so we could swap over to 7122 when the new ones come in.I cannot seem to find the link now. Help!

Re: Diode sub
I am guessing the issue is the capacitance. The MBR1100 is about 60 pF at 10 volts reverse where the 1N5711 is only about 0.8 pF at 10 volts reverse. I know the 1N5711 is good for RF detector

Re: K8IQY PVXO and Other Crystal Measuring Info
The PVXO is a very useful circuit. I built mine from scratch Manhattan style, so if you don't find a kit, don't worry.

Re: Piglet #170 has arrived
And don't let one fly 'directly' overhead !
But then, they may not drop 'blue ice', it might be something else.
