I enthusiastically second these remarks! Have a Hilltopper 20 already awaiting time to build but would jump for a 40 version immediately. The transparent cover definitely adds a touch of class IMO

1. My guess would be 60 HZ. Sounds a bit like transformer hum
2. There is no buzz with the antenna disconnected
3. I have not noticed buzz affected by board orientation
4. No buzz with the crystal

Mine appears to be 60hz and 300hz hum from nearby powerlines. I can also hear stations but it is noisy, I imagine outside a metro area it would be a lot better. Transmit works great at 1w into a

I have tried several ear buds and all about the same from cheapies to pretty hi end ones. Not sure of the exact impedance but all phone/iPad type.
