USPS vs Check Id
Don't really think this is an issue with USPS, but with the thinking behind Check ID.
Thinking that "Check Id" deters thief is a little out dated. If someone steals your
wallet, they have your Id.

Dale,
if no one else has first dibs, I'd like to buy that J-38.

BTW - Abraham Lincoln was misquoted. What he really said was:
"CW speaks louder than any voice mode."

Re: Wanted LTA straight key
I have a nice J-38, and can send photos too..
I'd let someone have it for $82 and I'll pay shipping.
Nice with a heavy base, with labels for "line" and "tel" and "J-38"
photos available.

Have you considered the key kits from American Morse Equipment? I have the KK1, and like it. Also J-38s are on Ebay, but they tend to get a pretty good price for them.

Re: OT - USPS
USPS maybe stepping up with having their clerks check but I believe that it is a Visa/Mastercard requirment that a merchant cannot accept an unsigned card for an in-person transaction.

Been that way here for years. I argued--with logic and passion--to no avail. Now my credit card I use at the post office has both my signature AND a "Check ID" message.
